I would be more than happy to not turn off ads. I support the site would like to contribute where I can. However, the newest group of ads with the pop-up video and the bottom of the screen ads is just too obtrusive.

The ads are insane, like your site is infected. It’s actually making purchase links unlickickable, on principle. Can’t tell if I misspelled, this text is covered by ads.

In Firefox, the setting (Settings, Security & Privacy, Permissions, Autoplay) does NOT work.

It tells you how on the very first post of this thread.

i also want to support the site, but had to turn the ads off. they auto played every time i clicked somewhere new.

however, would love to support the site beyond doing all my pre-orders through it. chalk me up to one of the folks who'd be willing to do a monthly donation or what not.

Not true. Logged in and the Top Gun video pop-up ad played on every page I visited (main page, forums, deals) until I disabled 3rd party ads.

This. If you want to get less people looking at the site, this is the way. Seems they forgot a lot of traffic comes from people who don't (want to) log in, I think those are the ones you'll lose first, because they can't get rid of the ads.

Example: while I typing this, there are 5325 active users (758 members and 4567 guests).

Totally agree. I just commented on the site improvements thread and then saw this one and having to sign in to block the REALLY irritating ads is not a good thing. I don't use Facebook and hate how it killed off a lot of forums I used to go to. It hides everything behind its "sell your soul to us to access our walled garden" philosophy and seeing this site going down the same route is not good. Not good at all. There are better ways of having ads or funding. This is NOT the way to go.

EDIT: Just so I make some sort of sense... FB blocks you completely from viewing its content most of the time unless you're a member. I don't like HAVING to sign in to a site to access it irritation-free. I use eBay a lot when I'm not logged in as otherwise it keeps on "suggesting" things you clicked on all of the time by email etc. I like browsing without being logged in. These ads are not a change for the better.

I am somewhat annoyed I have to log in everytime I visit the site now to stop the video pop ups. I use a shared computer, so cannot use the remember me option.
