Verbatim quote from Sly: "I was thinking to put this in these in the new DVD that Warners Brothers is releasing on 4K...Do you think I should do it"

No idea how people are getting "a UHD release is a done deal" out of this word salad, I'd hold off on the champagne for now.

He's just one of those people who isn't that into physical media. Coming up with different terms for the formats was a mistake. Should have been HD-DVD. Oh wait. Yeah, HD-DVD was a better name. The "DVD" in that is catchier, easier to make a part of English lexicon than Blu-ray, and so easier to sell them in the long term. The format only died because of corporate deals. If there hadn't been two sides at the time, the Blu-ray Association would have been smart to just call it HD-DVD. After HD-DVD, they could have done UHD-DVD/4K-DVD or something like that. It was all digital anyway; not like going from analog records to CDs. Makes sense non-nerds are still calling them DVDs. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray as a name sucks. Ask someone not in the know what a blu ray is and they'll be utterly confused. They may be confused with DVD too, but at least it's an abbreviation to three words that make sense to anybody.

Creed 3 delayed until March 2023, so don't think we will see the boxset this year.

I don't think releasing a box set of all the Rocky movies has anything to do with the release of Creed III. Stallone isn't even going to be in it. I still think we will get a 4K box set of all the Rocky movies by the end of this year.

I'd be happy with individual releases so I can avoid owning Rocky V. My dislike for that film from the concept to the final frame of film is absolute and unwavering.

You might be right. I just think marketing wise, they will probably release the set to coincide with the films release, but could be wrong!

I'm still bothered by "Nintendo tapes."

Amazon bought MGM to put these films on Prime. If they are available in 4K on Prime, I'll have no need to own physical copies.

The Heavyweight set was recently available for $15. One could grab that if they want the bonus features.

I'm in the right forum. You call people cheap because they don't want to spend +$100 on the boxset. I prefer to call them smart. If someone pays for Prime, I think they'd appreciate knowing the films are available in 4K there.

I suspect there's a percentage of people here that might want to own just a UHD disc of the original film and stream the others.

But thanks for the snark.

It may be "snark" but it's also truth.

Keep moving to streaming and refusing to pay proper prices for movies and the death of physical media will only be accelerated. I look at anyone like that as a liability.

So to keep the industry afloat, it's on my shoulders to buy physical media copies of the same films I might already have streaming access to? That's moronic.

In addition to my two car payments, a mortgage, property taxes, children's school tuition, health insurance, sky-high gas prices, rising food costs, etc., I need to forego streaming movies to underwrite the continuation of physical media? I don't think so, pal. I have better things to do with my money than to be part of a movement.

Then feel free to stick to the digital section of our forum. I think you'll be happier there than to crap all over the physical media section.

And....not to play devil's advocate but...I have better things to spend my money on than children THAT'S moronic.

And see I was ready to give a thumbs up until this. Having kids is moronic? You wouldn't be here to enjoy physical media without your parents and do you think if everyone stopped having kids this society would last long, least of all physical media. Jeez now THAT is moronic thinking.

Now that said you are perfectly right. You want to own physical disc of a film? Yeah its kind of on you to spend on the format to keep it going. You want to stream, then stream. I do that as well but its not my go to and will never be as long as physical media is alive and kicking. 100$ for 6 films on 4K is not a bad deal. Godfather was 100$ for three, Indy was 100$ for four. Just remember that the ones buying do finance the physical media market.

Its expensive sometimes but its a luxury sport to begin with and not something you need to keep breathing.

Ps. @IndyMLVC I do admit you hit a nerve with that kid thing and got me going

I'm fine here. I own way more physical media than I should. But thanks for trying to shut me down for simply adding my opinion about Amazon's streaming plans for the films.

Also, I might've taken your sanctimonious preaching about supporting the industry a little more seriously if it came from someone whose collection wasn't primarily blockbuster films from major studios.

With that said, I think we are both in agreement that children are a colossal waste of money.
