Even compressed they look pretty good to me. I’ll have to see it’s full glory on Blu-ray though to see the full effect.

MeTv airings won't include the Kelloggs sponsor. This one seems to cut the 30 sec clip before the intro, which I would be worried about, but the same thing happened with Flintstones streaming but the blu ray had it all intact. Last edited by kaden1108; 08-25-2024 at 04:15 AM. |

The colours seem a bit dark to me (look at the colour of the wall on the Blu Ray)
On the old DVD, they had a little 'preview' of each episode at the start before the actual opening credits for some reason |

Yeah I have to agree. I thought they’d be a bit brighter.

1. Weigel do a lot of time cuts on shows. They cut the pre-intro stingers for every cartoon that has them. They WILL be on the Blu it's just saving time for commercials on TV (TC and Stones episodes sometimes hit around 25 minutes) 2. After the credits the Turner logo played. This means the credits are sourced not from the DVD but instead the 1990s Turner prints (which were the ones that aired on Cartoon Network and Boomerang) |

Did anyone really expect sponsor plugs to a company that isn't even sponsoring the show in its reruns? Also the credits is a weird bug, but they were in HD (and also in a little less quality, grainier and darker than the main show regardless of the night scene). This makes me think that something definitely happened to the individual end credits early on. I'll get photos of the episode airing later today

Strumm, could you post side by sides of the transfers for this episode too? Especially the one with the blue. That would be a sight to see compared to the washed out colors.

Someone else can post side by sides. End credits were identical to the previous episode. My guess is that when HB prepared Top Cat for air after the initial run, they only reworked the first episode's credits and used it for every episode. Even for the DVD they couldn't locate any network prints with individual credits for the correct end. I guess they found the original material for the end they edited (though it looks a little grainier and darker than the main show) with the Screen Gems logo, and that's it

Turner started a "one-credits fits all" policy in the '90s for H-B cartoons, so WB may be using the Turner masters.
For Jonny Quest, the same end credits were used for every episode on home video and syndication starting in 1996. For the Blu-ray, Warner Archive Collection put in the effort to restore all 26 unique end credits (and the two original versions of the opening titles). For Flintstones, Harvey Korman had a credit on many/every episode/s on cable, even though he only voiced The Great Gazoo in a handful of the classic episodes. I'm surprised there aren't union rules against this sort of thing. |

I want to pre-order this so bad, but it's not up for pre-order anywhere yet not even Amazon. It's very nostalgic for me as I watched a number of episodes of Top Cat on Boomerang a lot back in the mid 2000s so it holds a special place in my heart quite a bit.
