No, Ridley has lost his mojo.

Also, Alien sequel was followed by a different director and so on.

What about Zach Cregger who directed Weapons or Ryan Coogler and bring in Michael B. Jordan.

I would want Ridley back too, but that's not the story he wants to tell. And Ridley hasn't lost his mojo, like the other directors I listed, they just get older and other things become a priority in their life. Shooting/prepping 3 other movies at once etc.
Which is why I mention that the studios/producers gotta reign them in and keep them focused.
These movies need directors with strong visual flair and a sense of atmosphere. Not someone who took a horror genre and just injected it with Comedy.
Ryan Coogler is nothing special and overrated.

I think it's funny how predictable all of these suggestions coming in are.

If Noah Hawley weren't prepping Nowhere Fast as we speak, I'd think the studio would want to throw him a bone after glancing at all the (baffling, imo) raves his Alien show got from the critics.

Scott obviously hasn't "lost his mojo" - quite the contrary, he's been in the most productive stage of his career for over two decades now -, but it'd be weird for him to step in unless he somehow convinced Álvarez and his co-writer to fully merge the Romulus and prequel storylines.

Hawley should not be allowed anywhere near Alien again.

Being a director must be stressful as shit though.
The time gap between these pictures is only 11 years, yet it looks more like 20+.

God daaaamn.

This sort of circles back to a point I made in farther back in the thread, which is: What do we want the Alien franchise to be?

The two clearest options as I see it are:

A) Treating it like Halloween where we take our main Xenomorph and reimagine vaguely the same premise forever. If successful, audiences keep showing up and everyone's happy. Given they can still generate a lot of commercial success (see: Romulus), maybe that's good enough.

B) Build something more vast, more complex. Between Ridley's Prometheus and Earth, I think there have repeatedly been people trying to build out something "more" for the franchise. This offers more differentiation across media and more lore to build off of over time.

They’ll never sign off on a Julia Ducournau Alien movie, so…

Well at least Fede delivered when it comes to the Benjamins.

Alien Covenant did not.

I want to see the film and it should be interesting to see the next director's take on the franchise.

It's like Star Wars, you'll never please everyone but fans still want to see the next film for better or worse.

Alien is a solid franchise. It was exploited for a while but it looks like it's coming back to being taken seriously as an important IP.

Look at Predator. The film before Prey was entertaining but basically a B movie. But Prey, WOW! That film blew my mind.

Of all the Predator/Alien films we've seen lately Prey is #1. Incredible film. The closest to Prey is Prometheus.

Prey is the perfect example of bringing a whole new take on the franchise. Romulus does not live up to what Prey has done to the Predator franchise.

I never thought the Predator franchise was great, I enjoyed some of the films but it was never close to being as great as Alien, that is until I saw Prey. In my opinion Prey is very close to the greatness of Alien and Aliens and I never thought I'd say that about a Predator film.

The whole reason I like AvP and AvP Requiem is because it's an Alien film not a Predator film.

Predator was a very good B movie franchise until Prey. The trailer for the next film looks really good too.

I liked Prey so much that I bought the Mondo Vinyl since there is no CD release of the soundtrack. The score is great!

OMG! is the Predator franchise about to take over the Alien franchise?

Ridley. Ridley, drop your other 47 projects and sort this out please. Jettison the Predator entirely if those rumours are true and give Fassbender a call. Do what you need to with the script. This is the perfect opportunity to blend a sequel to Romulus and finish your prequels.

Luke Scott. Wasn’t he originally meant to direct PROMETHEUS but the studio vetoed it?

I’d be worried Scott would kill Andy & Rain like he did Shaw in Covenant. I’m bummed Fede isn’t returning…but there HAS to be a hardcore ALIEN fan director in Hollywood that’s ALSO a talented director (aka not Paul W.S. Anderson).

Adam Wingard (You're Next, The Guest) is a massive Alien fan (he even likes Prometheus).

I just want the film that takes place in between Prometheus and Covenant, I want Shaw’s questions answered, I want to see the Engineer home world, I want David to be an Avenging Sociopath who unleashes an Alien Apocalypse on the Engineer’s Home world and I want the whole film steeped in the Anunnaki Mythos… and I want it called Alien: Paradise Lost. I want Ridley Scott in charge, I want management and their interference to go screw themselves and the overall fandom that complained about the Engineers and wanted a carbon copy Xeno oriented film to also go screw themselves…

But with both Adam and Ridley I would rather they originate their own script then pick up an already written script and go into production.
