DaCosta talks about her 28 Years Later sequel and throws shade at Candyman (and Marvels). https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/mo...pt-1236346898/

Quote:
“Making the 28 Years Later sequel was one of the best filmmaking experiences I’ve had,” DaCosta, director of The Marvels (2023) and Candyman (2021), said. “One of the issues I had with Candyman and Marvels was the lack of a really solid script, which is always gonna just wreak havoc on the whole process. But Alex Garland hands you a script, and you’re like, ‘This is amazing.’ You don’t really have to change it, although I did, I basically asked for more infected. [Laughs.] That was, like, my big contribution.”
Ok, you have my attention. Because Candyman really disappointed me. As for her directing style in the new film:

Quote:
She also went into a little detail about landing the job on one of cinema’s biggest horror franchises. “28 Days Later was one of my seminal films growing up… I had the DVD in my house. I watched it all the time. Obviously, fell in love with Cillian Murphy. And Danny Boyle is a bonkers ****ing filmmaker. No one else can make a Danny Boyle film, and that was actually the biggest part of my pitch for the movie. I was like, ‘No one else can do that and I don’t have any intention of doing that. Here’s how I see the film, what do you think?'”

Fingers crossed. I haven't seen her first two films, but I have faith in Boyle and Garland to have chosen someone exciting to hand the keys to.

Watched this on Amazon Prime. Definitely the worst of the trilogy. The only thing I found interesting in the film was the rising tide thing on the causeway lol. The "zombies" were an afterthought here, plus the whole thing felt like an episode of The Walking Dead. And I still don't get the use of 2.76:1 for the AR. I mean, there were a handful of great wide landscape shots but people are going to watch this on 1.78:1 TVs. The intended effect of that wide an image will be lost on consumer TV sets.

I've already preordered the 4K but this won't get much replay at home.

This is so banal but I'm quite thankful they had the names at the top correspond to those below them. Loads of covers mess this up because of contracts and actors superiority. But someone decided to line these ones up correctly.

So kudos.

That drives me up the wall too. I can't stand it when the names do not match up with the actors on the poster.

Thought this was brilliant. The first half is gloomy, oppressive, equal parts ugly and beautiful, contrasting the Scottish highlands with some of the most rancid zombie designs I've seen since the glory days of Italian cinema. Then it turns tender. As the film drew to a close, I was watching it through tears. The sequel hook at the end is shamelessly absurd and I can see it turning some folks off, but I'm pumped.

I knew Danny Boyle wouldn't disappoint!

That last scene was something and I loved it

The visuals - outside of few noisy & smeary shots looking like they were captured by a phone from 2010 - were amazing and should look great on UHD.
