$120 MSRP is expensive irrespective of how good the bonus material is. IMHO, price will come down to $60 for the box set once the initial sales are done.

All the studios and manufacturers are talking about getting the prices down so the masses can have an easy transition from DVD to Blu-ray discs. The price for this trilogy will not be sustainable at $120 a piece.

Maybe the pricing reflects new encodes ? The original HD-DVDs were OK, but substandart IMHO, the first for example was the original HD master from 2002, that's a 7 years difference in HD scanning, and the Datacine have evolved in leaps. 2nd was OK apart from desync tracks on some scenes and bizarre video noise on others, third was an acceptable transfert, but not 3D poping. I hope they are all improved.

Didn't the specs say an AVC encode? IIRC, the HD DVD's were VC-1 so it's possible it's a new encode...if not a new transfer.

I have the set on HD, I may pick up the Blu, but it would have to be a great improvement. I think I will be waiting until my HD player dies and then buy the Blu versions.

I also have the set on HD. The Blu is on my wish list, but it would take some convincing for me to switch over.

Here's a significant difference. It seems the first two Bournes on HD had DD+ while Ultimatum Had TrueHD. All the Bourne's in blu-ray look to be DTS-HD Master.

All in 5.1

It may be worth me picking up down the line, but not for awhile.

Post Cover art for Universal's "The Bourne Trilogy"

All right here:

http://www.highdefdiscnews.com/?p=8145

If that's the final artwork for the trilogy, then Universal has done a great job with it! So cannot wait until Jan. 27!

I have to disagree. If that is the actual artwork then they have failed miserably. A plain backgound with a picture of the main character?! Really? It's about as generic as you can get. May as well of just made the box all white with black lettering that said "Bourne Trilogy" across the front. I think at the very least if they want us to double dip they could put a little imagination into the cover art. Admitedly I don't buy movies for thier cover...but come on!!

Thats not bad, somewhat plain but but effective. Will each movie have the original covers or new covers or does anybody know?

"old" as in "this week."

And if you're not reading the Bourne thread about this release then you're clearly not interested in it.

Less is more maybe Artwork looks to be a similar style to the DVD trilogy I have in a steelbook. A picture of Jason Bourne on a black background all in greyscale.

$83.99 is a great offer from Amazon. Now just to be sure it's all region-free!
