There are several great ones to pick from. For surround sound I use Master and Commander. For audio and/or video, Transformers, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, I, Robot, and U-571 have some great scenes.

For PQ: The Matrix Trilogy, Transformers, Black Hawk Down, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Iron Man, Unforgiven, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Let The Right One In, The Dark Knight, among others.

For AQ: Transformers, The Matrix Trilogy, Black Hawk Down, Iron Man, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, The Dark Knight, The Day After Tomorrow, Pan's Labyrinth, 3:10 To Yuma, among others.

Restored Blu's: Blade Runner, Patton, The Godfather, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Usually I pop in Transformers, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, or The Matrix Trilogy to show the awesomeness of Blu-ray.

I watched it straight through. I took about a 10 min. break in between each disc and had a pizza delivered. Missed one of my intermissions by only a couple minutes.

That's awesome. It'll almost be like watching them for the first time again. What are your new speakers, and what are they replacing?

Jock Blu & JunkBoy you have made an excellent choice : David Foster - Hit Man.

The performers are great, the orchestra is fantastic and the recording to die for. No compression, superlative dynamics; crank up the volume and listen to Michael Buble first song. You better have good quality speakers !

This is material which everyone can appreciate and on which you can pass a judgement for sound quality, fidelity and reproduction. The reproduction of voices is very revealing of the audio quality and virtues of a speaker. If your surround system shines on this Blu-ray; don't worry about its ability to reproduce movie soundtrack.

I wish that they will come out with the missing minutes of that 4 hour show.

I just rewatched Transporter (1) last night. I gotta say, the first eleven minutes really rock on AQ and the PQ is way better than I remembered. Reference stuff....really.

Just curious, I see this a lot. I love TDK, but what about that first bank scene makes it demo quality? I really enjoyed the scene as an intro to the Joker, but not so great from an a/v standpoint.

off the top of my head i'll say

Transformers - Battle in the city streets at the end of the film
The Dark Knight - IMAX chase through Gotham, tumbler/batpod/Joker etc.
I Am Legend - Opening car ride through Manhattan/chasing the deer
King Kong - Kong vs Tyrannosaurs
Pirates: At World's End - Maelstrom
Pirates: Dead Man's Chest - Kraken, The dice game (all those CG characters look incredible up close)

Good film choice, but the insect attack is a better scene to show off, especially the weird bizarre, creepy sounds that emerge from the rears.

The depth of the shot, since it was filmed with the IMAX camera. The audio is pretty interesting as well...but as mentioned above, the chase scene may be better as it was also filmed with the IMAX camera and has that depth, but it's a little more action packed...but on the downside, it's a little darker.

+1...

I think the best thing about that opening scene is you see the buildings and the clarity of IMAX right away. Then the music slowly builds but you then get SMASH with the window breaking.

The sound is well done and I agree it is a good scene to show off any home theater. It's not my fav... but good.

For best picture quality you can't go wrong with Planet Earth. Simply amazing!

Gotta disagree. CGI should be used to enhance a movie not be the movie. Alternatively it should be used to show a certain visual style (Sky Captain, 300 etc.)

The problem with using CGI as the be all, end all (yah I'm talking to you Lucas) is that no matter how good it is, it never has any 'weight' behind it. It is and always will be just as fake looking as the old cheesy stop motion in films (although I LOVE Jason and the Argonauts).
