I figured Banned was bad (what else would it mean). So if I saw someone who has that designation, and they had a for sell thread over in the trading forum, should I not buy from them? Their most recent activity was from March I think. All positive feedback.

No worries. Several of us recently have discovered that a good feedback rating isn't everything -- and is certainly no protection.

If the seller you're referring to is who I think it might be, it's a perfect example of that.

I love when people say, "I've tried searching, but couldn't find anything" and there is the exact answer to their question in a thread on the first page of the forum. Do these people ever actually put forth the effort to search???

in the op’s defense, if they didn’t they know what it was called, how would they know what to search for???

And yes, there have been numerous threads about this, but the last 3 I’ve seen have all called the “member status” something different.

"Banned" is often good for the community as a whole, and bad for the individual who earned that distinction

Feedback isn't too useful.... you will probably be able to determine who is giving useful information, and those with either an agenda, or just overly biased etc...

Well usually people are only temporarly banned for a certain period of time. The most famous of this is Marcus whatever the rest of his user name is. The number of times he got banned for post ho-ing is innumberable. So far he's not banned right now, but he's not as active as he used to be.

I belive it goes something list this :

0-1 = new member
10-20 = junior member
20-100 = member
100-200 = active member
200-400 = senior member
400-600 = power member
600-1000 = expert member
1000-2000 = special member
2000-5000 = blu-ray guru
5000+ = blu-ray king

Yeah that's what the issue was. I swear I spent five minutes searching for this and it was only a matter of the words I used to search. Then I took another minute or two to figure out which forum to post this in. Believe me, I'm also a stickler for ppl re-posting stuff and not just searching for it.

There's "Suspended" .... "Banned"... "Excommunicated" is the worst one. That means you've been exiled from the forum and from ever going to Forum Heaven. Only one member has ever received that distinction.

The other typical ones are based on post count, and then there are the moderators who usually have their own monikers, and a few others who have different names who aren't moderators, like Liquidice, dpomp, and jkwest - who received their titles through varying actions of..."merit"

I think they changed Expert Member from 600-1000 to 700-1000 posts.

Finally, yes, I agree with you Blu-Benny, this site does help the day go by sometimes.
