im sick of chcanada. they sent me an iron man DVD which I did not order and it wasnt even a directors selection and charged me with $34.91...this happeed twice now. Im cancelling my membership

I placed 2 separate orders of 8 blu rays over Christmas. I have received 4 out of 16 so far. And they were mailed out individually. CH can't be saving that much money by mailing them out one at a time.

Strangely though I received an email the other day saying one of my pre-order titles had shipped. This is the 1st time I've ever got a "shipped" email from them. It isn't a title that I had ever asked them about at all so is it maybe a new policy to send emails when they ship?

Nope. It was Unfaithful on Blu-ray.

They do. When you sent something under 20 mm, it counts as lettermail instead of a parcel, much cheaper. That's why they place 2 Blu-Rays side by side in big envelop without bubble wrap.

Well, they still could use bubble wrap and be under the limit. I once got 5 separate blus delivered on the same day, packaged as singles. There is absolutely no way that is cheaper than bundling all 5 together. Maybe for 2-3 singles, but not 5

so i'm going to take the plunge and give this a try. selecting my first 5 for $5..kinda limited selection but hey, how can i complain? =O

*edit* selected these titles as my first ones: 3:10 To Yuma, Across The Universe, Twister, Casino Royale, and Total Recall. What are the prices like for "regular" BDs? newer stuff like say: Apaloosa, Eagle Eye, etc

As long as someone understands the downsides to how it all works and isn't in a big rush you can certainly save a lot of money with CH IMO. I'm a happy member.

lol yeah i'm thinking the shipping time is going to kill me. i'm in no rush to see the first movies though, i've seen them all, just wanna have 'em on BD. i'll use this thread to track how long it takes

Well it was between 4 and 5 weeks for my initial shipment back in the fall.

So far i've paid about $300 in total to Columbia House Canada and have received 27 Blu-rays from them. I still have 14 more left to come (all pre-orders other than The Incredible Hulk) at $14 total or less each.

So 41 Blu-rays for $500 or about $10.79 + taxes on average per Blu-ray.

My first order took 2 weeks to deliver. Still waiting for Shawshank... it was shipped Jan 15. My application took about 4 weeks to come.

Crap!...Ordered SAW V as soon as it went on sale for $13.99 and it's back ordered already. Oh well...they say they expect a new stock shortly and will ship immediately when it comes in.

thecroshow, we'll be able to compare accounts since I joined today as well. Ominous start tho...I ordered Hellboy, Twister, August Rush, We Own the Night and War....and on my order Twister and We Own the Night did not show up as "blu-ray" but the other 3 did.

I sent them a email...let's hope they send blu-ray's...guess I'll have to wait weeks and weeks to find out tho!

I guess I have lucked out so far..... It only took 2 weeks for my initial package. However, it was a pain in the ass to get access to the website and register. I got in just in time for the free shipping + 60% off And so far I have received about 25 of the 40 ordered titles. I received 14 titles in 1 day!!! It is pretty annoying that they send them in the paper envelopes. I especially hate them in the mailbox collecting condensation in the cold Oh well

I got an email saying they have 2 for 1 deal going on right now. It was a bit confusing though because it said that if you buy one movie at full price you get the second for free.

It ends Jan 25th.

received my Blu Rays yesterday, placed order on the 8th, received them on the 22nd, not too bad considering I live a couple provinces away. On Monday past I logged in to CH and chatted live on line with customer rep who told me my order was shipped on the 14th , so good site... anybody have a promo code?

So I got another email today from them saying a Blu-ray had shipped. Am I the only one getting these? Maybe i've called them enough and they've put me on some special list.

Of course the emails don't make the movies get here any faster

I'm still waiting on 4 or 5 separate shipments supposedly sent out in the last 3+ weeks. I guess I have to call about the Dec. 31 one but I hear they put the blame on you (and Canada Post I guess) if it doesn't show up and make you pay for a new shipment - is that the case?
