In fact, here in DFW the Grapevine store just pasted the new stickers over the old ones, so in some cases you could see the new sitcker peeling up and the original price.

When it comes to liquidations, buyer beware.
Agree 100%. Liquidations are a total waste of time. They are done by 3rd parties who mark up the items significantly before offering 30-50% discounts. I'll bet the everyday prices at Amazon are better than the Circuit City liquidation prices.

i am not sure if you can get a refund on your service plan but your plan is still good for the entire time that you purchased it for because all service plans are insured through GE. you will get a notice in the mail most likely within a few weeks on how to redeem your coverage should you need to.

I purchased an extended warranty (Circuit City Advantage Plan). Will that still be honored?
Yes, absolutely. Our Advantage Plan service is handled through dedicated service companies not affiliated with Circuit City, ensuring that there will be no disruption in your ability to get service for your covered products.

If my local Circuit City store has been closed, how can I get a product serviced?
Circuit City Advantage boasts a nationwide service solution for every product. Here is how you can get the service you need:

* For TVs over 25", please call 1-888-333-2333 to set up in-home service.
* For high-tech devices like computers, digital cameras, etc., please call 1-800-555-4615.
* For MP3 players, game hardware and other gadgets, please call 1-800-871-2761 or visit us here to begin the process.

For all other products, if there is another Circuit City store in the area, simply bring the product there, or to any Circuit City Store to obtain service. If there is not another store in the area, please call 1-888-333-2333 and arrangements will be made to get your product serviced by a local service provider, or shipped for free to a Circuit City Service Center.

It's good to know there will at least be some sort of safety net on those extended warranty/service plans. I added one for my 52" Sony Bravia XBR4 when I bought the HDTV about this time last year.

im not sticking around for the liquidation. having helped out with a liquidation at another local store a few months ago, i can not put myself through that. these liquidations brings out the worst in people because they come in there and want to rub it in your face about all the "bad decisions" that were made in the company how we deserve to be closing. they demand more and more money off of everything and it feels like youre surrounded by a pack of wolves. it really is sickening.

please, anyone going to these sales, be consciensous of the employees. 30,000 are losing their jobs. im one of them and it will be a struggle. at least ill have blu ray to keep me occupied for a while.

there is circuit city about 3 minutes from my work and I'm leaving work in a few hours so would it be too soon to stop in today and see if they have shit on sale? or should I wait a week.

I'm asking because I'm lazy and I have lunch with my wife every friday so she'll come and pick me up around 12:30 or so

Yeah, one nice use of my blackberry - as the wife was going through Linens and Things, I was looking up prices on amazon on my browser.

I'll probably do the same thing at CC and at least take a look. Though since I'm not looking for big ticket electronics, I can probably just eyeball the PS3s, PSPs, BDs, and software from memory. (Though if I could get an Onkyo 605/606 for cheap.... who am I kidding - wife'll kill me)

I will be depending on this site to keep everyone posted on supposed deals!! Funny, a few people at work were talking about getting new HD sets/blu-ray players/receivers, etc, and I mentioned the same thing. If you don't know the going sales price for a particular player, you could easily overpay.

One question for anyone who has dealt with these liquidators before: will they have nationwide pricing or will it vary by store?

If CC does start to close, I say we dont shop right away. Prices only get lower if people wait. Why purchase at %10 off, when it will go to %20-30?

The only thing to consider on that basis may be the selection may become more limited if someone decides to wait.

Montgomery Wards I believe, just closed without being forced to liquidate by a court, big difference
MW had been through bankruptcy twice...... they weren't exactly swimming in cash either. We got 2 weeks pay for every year of service.
