Do You Guys Keep the Speaker Grilles On or Off? - Blu-ray Forum

Just wondering, how many of you guys keep the speaker grilles off or leave them on. I personally take them off when I want the FULL AUDIO EXPERIENCE. I have noticed a vast improvement in sound quality when the grilles are off...like my speakers can EXHALE without any interference...

Well, we are in agreement that they definitely look better with the grilles off, but wouldn't you guys agree that they sound better too? Or am I alone on this

I have no choice but to leave them off! My Totems didn't come with grilles! LOL!

My speakers don't have removable grills.

If I had tower/floor-standing speakers, though, they would be on at all times. I've got two young boys and the grills would help to keep the speakers protected.

i dont ever take them off. i saw what they looked like the day i hooked them up.

Running Snell E-II's (depends on how I feel - I've run them off ala Audio Note and I've run them on). Running Klipsch Heresy - I run them off generally. My surrounds - sides off - rear's on.

Takings the grills off of my Definitive Technology super towers is like undressing a woman in corset. I prefer not to go there.

When I get those big mirrored line stage tower speakers that are being made, they are actually being designed and made without any grills. The other speakers based upon this design for the rest of the side and center channels will also be made in likelihood without grills. At present, I keep the speaker grills on my Dahlquist DQ-10 speaker cabinets (that will be true in the final set-up later this year as well), Dahlquist DQ-6CI bookshelf, and Nola Center channel speakers.
