Zack Snyder certainly knows how to execute a great credit sequence. Both Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen feature two of the best in recent memory.

A personal favorite has always been On Her Majesty's Secret Service. The imagery is excellent and Barry's score is perfection. Goldeneye is another favorite of the series.

Can't believe there has only been one mention of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I thought this site was populated by movie fans. That's pretty close to beating Superman.

The opening sequence of Bram Stoker's Dracula (Coppola, 1992) has to be one of the most fantastic openers ever filmed.

I really liked Drag Me To Hell's opening and Quantum of Solace.

But #1 of all time: The Shining.

Titles at the beginning of the film are there in two ways. In the hay day of film, movies had overtures which were before the film to help set the mood. This also happened because much of your audience in the 40's through 50's were still used to radio and actually listening to the audio experience (Star Trek: The Motion Picture 1979???). Titles were then mixed with the Overture to help speed up the emotion, something that I enjoyed.

Today, with the loss of Opening Titles, a movie seems more rushed to start and lose your attention rather than emmersing you into the experience. Some films pull it off nicely, while others suffer. It goes to show how over time the public audience has less patience and is more hurried than before.

The way I see it is like TV today. We have now lost Titles for TV shows in favor of more time for commercials. UGH!
