It never even crossed my mind that she might die. Jack knows what he's doing

Who has all gotten the "silent countdown" so far?

I can remember Edgar & Chapelle right away. I also remember in the season finale of season 1 after Nina killed Terri. Did Michelle/Palmer get one? I can't remember. I do remember that they were killed right away in season 5 (like the first 10 minutes), but did they get one at the end of the episode? I don't believe so.

Who else am I missing?

EDIT: And no, Walker is not dead. Jack is too smart to let her die. Must be the beginning of 24 changing it up with the "silent countdown." There's NO WAY she dies there. Anyone think that maybe Walker will start working with Tony and Jack? According to the previews for hour 6, one would have to assume that Tony shoots whats-his-name and then they go and unbury Agent Walker.

The female agent is definitely alive; they made that clear. I think she's beginning to understand what is going on and is just going to crawl out of the dirt at the beginning of next week's episode and continue to figure out that Jack is actually on her side.

That's my favorite thing about this show: when it gets intense, the energy picks up, and Jack gets going 100 miles/hour after these nasty terrorists. I hope that this season finally leads to him being recognized as a hero.

I just recently got into 24 this last summer. I randomly borrowed the first season on DVD from my friend and I've been hooked since. I've gotten caught up through season 5 and I want to catch up before I watch the new one so I won't be totally lost. I need to get on that!

taget has a sick deal on all of the seasons going right now. I think 1-3 were $17 and the rest were maybe $25.

For those wondering if Walker will return,
[Show spoiler]just look up the actress (Annie Wersching) on IMDB.com and see how many episodes she's slated for this season.

In S2 when George Mason hands the director's cards to Tony to leave CTU there is a silent clock, it's about half-way through the particular episode.

However there have only been two silent clocks that were completely silent.

Only the silent clock following Edgar's death (Day 5 6:00pm-7:00pm) and the silent clock at the end of 24: Redemption were accompanied by complete silence. Various sounds were audible during the other silent clocks.

  • Following Teri Bauer's death there was a quiet howling wind with footsteps.
  • The silent clock following George Mason's departure had faint music accompaniment.
  • Pained breathing and a heartbeat can be heard in the foreground following David Palmer's assassination attempt.
  • For Ryan Chappelle's execution, the silent clock had a train whistle.
  • Day 6's silent clock was accompanied by the sound of ocean waves crashing into the shore.
  • Renee Walker can be heard breathing during Day 7's silent clock.

Hell yes. Someone agrees with me that S5 was the best!

How would you rank them?

I would rank them as:

-S5
-S3
-S2
-S6
-S1
-S4

So far, I am in agreement with you as this season being the best (at least so far, 5 hours in.)

I have no idea how I would rank them because each season has aspects that I love. I feel good about saying 5 is the best, next to that I'm totally lost. I feel like maybe season 4 could some in second because the pace really picks up in that season and there is tons of action, but again I have no ranking that I could feel good about.

You have season 6 over Season 1, which is the best season of all...what is wrong with you? Season 6 was still entertaining but my least favorite

Really? I thought 4 was horrid. Don't know why, but I hated it for some reason.

And sorry, but I didn't honestly care for season 1. Terri bugged me for some reason. Can't explain why, but I did not like her character at all.

Am I alone in feeling this season has been utterly predictable if not a bit stupid?

1) How did people not know that Tony was alive? Did no one attend his funeral?
2) It was pretty obvious Tony was working undercover.
3) It would have a been a refreshing change of pace if the assistant to the president's husband was actually loyal. Instead we get the same old nonsense that he's working for the bad guys.
4) The AG shows up 10 minutes after Walker leaves the hospital? What? Complete nonsense someone would show up that quick. And especially stupid he would be pushing the issue in the middle of national crisis like this. Again they've done this stupid crap in previous seasons.
5) You're being actively hunted by the FBI and you're going to stop and bury a body? What?

If you're going to watch 24 with that attitude then you're just wasting your time. Yes if you think it through, each and every season of 24 is completely ridiculous. That being said, if you immerse yourself in it and don't logically pick apart every aspect of the show than it is the most entertaining piece of television ever put together IMO.

If you think through any TV show, 9 of 10 times, it is stupid. I agree with you that you have to watch just to enjoy it and to suspend your disbelief. 24 is by far one the best TV shows out there year in and year out.

That was explained. Emerson was actively recruiting angry former agents and had people inside CTU. Emerson wanted Tony because he thought that Michelle's death would make him a prime candidate to turn. When Tony was injected, his heart stopped and Jack believed him to be dead. (Remember, Jack left immediately after that and ended up captured by the Chinese.) Emerson's people were able to revive Tony minutes later and remove him from CTU, but had him officially declared dead. His funeral was staged as part of the cover up. Walker said that they exhumed Tony's casket and discovered that he wasn't in it.

Well, yeah. That's why they revealed it in hour 3. It was all just a way to reintroduce the character. If Tony hadn't been working undercover, then they would have brought him back as an unusable long-term character, thus making his return pointless.
