Quick question from a long-time Elite users and now a new Denon owner...
I have the x6400 and am a little confused as to the output on auto, direct or pure direct modes when playing a BD or UHD. I want exactly what the disc is outputting (Atmos, DTSX, DTSMA, TrueHD), no additional processing added(Neural, etc..) and I want my Audyssey settings (levels, distances, crossover, etc) to stay intact. I assume and have been using Direct, or is this incorrect? THX |

Funny, I have the 3200W and yesterday I received an update as well that it took like 18 minutes to complete. I was wondering this morning what is the firmware for. I did some research and find out in the Denon site that my model as well as yours, were due for a firmware in the Summer 2018. In the site say that the upgrade is to make it compatible with Dolby Vision and HDL.

Keep me updated. As of right now, I have my Dolby Vision player connected directly to my Oled TV because my Denon was not Dolby Vision-ready. But if this new firmware enabled Dolby Vision I could now connect player directly to receiver instead.

Hi Everyone,
New S940H owner here (coming from an older 1712). The one thing I can't figure out is how to turn off dynamic volume. When I initially ran audyssey, it asked if I wanted it on, to which I said "yes". However, it's a little too rowdy for my building and I need to turn it off. I can't find it anywhere in the menus...do any of you have any insight? On my old 1712, the option to turn dynamic off was right in the menus and easy to find. Also...did anyone with new 2018 models get new firmware today? I got home from work and turned it on, it promted me for for an update and said it should take 10 mins then automatically turn back on, and it's been over an hour now. Getting a little worried... I also checked Denon's website and there were no firmware notes. TIA! Last edited by GeneD5; 06-22-2018 at 11:08 AM. |

Here’s the thing I figured out - (what I actually meant was dynamic EQ) - if you mess with speaker settings at all, audussey disables itself and those menu options gray out. |

I received the OLED TV on June 20, however I haven't play with the connections as of yet. My Oppo 203 is also connected to the TV, I was able to see the Dolby Vision logo in my TV, when we watched a show from Netflix. However what the difference of connecting the player to the receiver and then to the TV? I thought that is better directly from the Oppo to the TV, what's the difference? It makes the picture better?

I have a question for those who have Dolby Atmos receivers. I've purchased a Denon X4400H a month ago and I returned it because, the receiver was upscaling 5.1 DTS and Dolby soundtracks to Dolby Atmos, which I didn't want. My settings and the speaker configuration were correct but to no avail. The receiver was still outputting Dolby Atmos when a 5.1 soundtrack was playing. I wanted the receiver to output the audio that's encoded on the Blu-ray disc, not upscaling everything to Dolby Atmos or DTS:X. My question is: Do all Dolby Atmos receiver upscale all soundtracks to Dolby Atmos regardless of its audio and speaker setup?

What do you think I did wrong, was it the setting, or the receiver could've been defected because, I had to manually select Dolby TrueHD or DTS 5.1 MA for it to play in 5.1. I tried everything.
