To everyone who picked up Hundra - Is this worth a blind buy? How’s it look? Regretting not pre-ordering and then missing the window before the shipping hike, but I haven’t heard anything about the disc yet.

The 4k UHDs of "The Dead Pit" and "Scream" are currently not showing up on the Dark Force online store.

Maybe they discontinued them for lack of orders

My copies are en route.

I don't think either UHD has gone through replication. I had a pre-order for the UHDs which included some other recent titles and I recently got a delivery of the latter without the UHDs. Check your status update to make sure it doesn't say partially shipped.

The order isn't showing up at all - at least not on the Dark Force site. The entire order is listed on the email I got, though. So all they shipped was Hundra Damn, I was looking forward to these 4Ks

EDIT: Yeah, it was just Hundra. They included an extra copy of Who's Child Am I (I'd already received a copy a couple of weeks ago). I didn't know the 4Ks are nowhere near done yet.

The 4K's have been taking a little longer so on some of the orders we have been doing partial shipments. But they are both coming out FANTASTIC and will be ready to ship in November. Trust us it will be worth the wait. SCREAM looks really good on 4k and DEAD PIT could very likely be our biggest and best release to date.

Does the "Scream" 4k UHD have HDR? The description doesn't mention it.

We are just finishing the new 4K master on SCREAM and it is still under consideration with the HDR only because the film was originally shot on 16mm. Although the 4K transfer drastically improved the quality over the previous HD release but it is possible that the HDR process may not. That will be determined and announced shortly but one thing is for sure we got it looking real nice. It even looks like it was shot in 35mm now. It's a cool atmospheric movie and definitely works with the 4K. We did show some of the new master on a recent previous Dark Force Facebook Live Feed if you want to check that out.

My TV is 65 inches, in my experience I tend to notice the benefits of HDR more than increased detail when I'm watching UHDs. I have both Scream and Dead Pit pre-ordered so I hope you decide to do HDR.

Although I've seen a couple of 4k UHDs with decent SDR, HDR definitely makes colors and contrast better to my eyes on most titles.

The prob is with source material that is noisy HDR can unnaturally amplify the grain. 16mm going to have heavy grain, 4K SDR may very well be a wiser choice than 4K HDR.

For what it's worth, I did pre-order the "Scream" 4k UHD as do I like the movie. I have encountered 4k UHDs that look really nice despite SDR( for example, some Le Chat Qui Fume UHDs come to mind). I do hope "Scream" is well compressed/encoded. Video quality means a lot to me.

You will be very happy with the new SCREAM 4k UHD. Considering it was originally shot on 16mm the 4K scan came out great, was done on one of the best scanners around. Color correction came out great and we are doing extensive restoration...bottom line it looks so good now it looks more like it was shot on 35mm.
