Silly me. This thread is all about the packaging. Even though there is a steelbook subforum & threads.
Oh I thought there was a site review up..."silly me".

Just finished watching it. One of the best Comic Book movies in a while. Up there with X-Men: First Class. I'd say way better than Avengers. It does a great job of balancing the various themes that make up the best Spider-Man comic books. The weakness of the Raimi trilogy only becomes much more obvious after watching this. It was great to see a really acrobatic Spider-Man who also nails the sense of humor and quippy banter lacking from the Raimi films. Plus it was great to finally get Lizard in the films, rather than 3 films worth of cocktease about Curt Conners becoming the Lizard. Bring on the sequel!

My second Steel!
Went this afternoon and purchased the SB version. Will be watching this weekend. I expect great PQ and AQ from this release. Already looking forward to the sequel.

Just got back from my local Best Buy. All of the steelbooks were in the back in the DVD section. I'm not sure why they were back there, but they weren't in the Blu-ray section at all. I got the last copy at my local store, they definitely sold out fast. Still happy I was able to get my copy though.

Thank you

Now I don't feel so bad that the 3D version was sold out at my Target. It sounds like I wouldn't really miss it that much.

SO, did anyone buy the Walmart edition?
I don't really follow comic book that much, so I'm really interested in the featurette/documentary about the comic book origin. Does Walmart disc go into history of Lizard character in the comic book?

I liked it but not to the extent that you did. There were too many story points that were introduced and then simply dropped. I'd say it's closer to the comics than the Raimi films and that's a good thing.

In its initial week, The Avengers got 72% of its total package media sales from Blu. Lets see how well Spidey does.

Great transfer. By far my favorite of the Spider-Man movies and looking forward to the sequels. Garfield/Stone are soooooooo much better than Tobey/Dunst.

Correct. Hopefully, going forward, this practice improves to blu-ray.

Hmmm, I dunno. I would be surprised if it broke 50%, and that's no slight to the movie. I just think Avengers had a lot more star appeal, and build up to it. Of course, I don't mind being wrong as it would be great for both the format and superhero/comicbook movies!

On a side note, I can remember a time, not long ago, that capturing 30% was unheard of...now look at the numbers we're throwing around! Keep thriving blu-ray, keep thriving!

I don't really have an issue with the extras or bonus discs being on DVD. Though Blu-ray is always preferred.

I'm I the only one that ordered the blu-ray from Amazon but didn't receive the slipcover? I mean it's not a major thing but I mean I do like collecting slipcovers
