I wonder if that could have anything to do with the masters VIZ received from Toei.

The tinkering Viz did and will probably continue to do is a real shame. I am a casual fan having watched it as a kid during Summer vacations, but never seeing the complete series or the movies (but I do have Sailor Mercury on my mailbox key). I've always held out for an uncut English release so I could watch it in its entirety. I hate to say this, but not buying it and holding out hope for replacements probably won't work in this case and, if anything, might result in cancelation of the remainder of the series due to poor sales.

It has sold very well despite it being massively flawed so this will not happen. Viz have also sunk too much money in to acquiring the rights to quit.

Alright. Either way I don't see them giving us anything better for Series 1 and probably Series 2. If they haven't already applied their "remastering" to future episodes beyond Series 2 then maybe complaining will convince them to leave things alone. I wouldn't count on it though. They seem to have convinced themselves that they are giving us the best they can.

So I started watching a few episodes of Sailor Moon on Blu Ray. I like the bonus features they have on here (I would of loved to have seen something about the 20th anniversary). Now with the picture issues. First I would like to mentioned I have seen no issue with the pictures. I have seen no sign of ghosting and to me the picture looks fine. However when a character is in front of a all white background then it gets super bright. Also I've noted they added clean intro and end in the bonus feature section. This makes me wonder why as those are clearly recorded from a tape. Up to now I have no issues with picture I'm watching on a vizo 27" tv. I will watch it later on my Magnnavox 46" tv and see if any of issues being talking about are noticeable or even come up.

That's why. The DNR watercolor blurriness is obvious on my Sony46".

Although it's also plain to see in the comparisons which have been provided in this thread.

I have a 27' Vizio hooked up with RCA cables, I'm sure the picture will blow me away!

So it does make a difference what size the tv is to even notice the issues?

Btw I always use HDMI cables in both my hdtvs just that right now I don't have access to the 46" tv that's in the living room and my parents are watching it.

I could always throw it on the family HT's 133" projector.

23" TV in my room and 32" in the living room. Don't need anything bigger.

So I'm thinking maybe they didn't updste the system when it arrived to my city or something happened in the way to my city or they simply did a departure scan and haven't send it yet. So now I have to wait for the mail to arrive to see what happens. If it doesn't arrive today I'm gonna call USPS and see when it's expected to arrive.
Boy you're dense. I look forward to the updates on when you put each disc in your player.

I really hope it doesn't continue with every subsequent volume.

Maybe they are? We can't know for sure since we don't work for them and don't know what is going on internally. Nor do we know what their license agreement entails.

BTW, whether you are happy with this release or not, NO ONE should be wishing Viz just cancels the series. We have never been given the whole thing in the US, so this is the only chance we have at the entire thing being given a proper release with a nice accurate dub with actors, not street rats.

I have a 50" but if I ever manage to go 4K I will get a 55" or larger for that set. Might even go as high as 65"... but probably not. Most likely will go for a 60".

I am so particular about bit-rates and encodes and understand that there is some correlation to be seen between the quality of something as you move up on TV sizes, so I don't think I'd be willing to go above 60" in all likelihood. Maybe 55" would even be best, but I think I'd also appreciate the benefit of a 60" TV.
