I watched my set last night and didn't notice any macroblocking or the like on the OVA. I wasn't at an optimal viewing distance or angle (cozy recliner off to the side) but nothing stuck out during my initial viewing.

I just sent in a complaint as well asking for a partial. not really fair to spend so much on a set that has a dent, loose binding, cheap material for dis, and super tight disc holders. And overall bad design.

1. Refund
2. Replacement
3. 10% refund but i got them to give me $20 instead of $19
4. $15 off a order on crunchyroll store and you keep item

A little under 13x13x2. Pretty much the size of a larger vinyl record box set.

The outer box looks just like the LD box that came with the first episode on laserdisc in Japan (except that the color of the Macross Plus logo isn't as vibrant for some reason).

I sent them a picture of the damage to my book and this was the response:

"We've assessed the damage on your Macross Plus - Movie + OVA - Blu-ray - Ultimate Edition - Crunchyroll Exclusive and determined it's cosmetic, not affecting the item's usability. While we understand it's not ideal, we can't offer an exchange as replacements are likely to arrive in a similar condition. However, we can provide a full refund if you'd like to return the item, and we'll cover the return shipping."

They have offered either a 10% partial refund or a discount code for my next purchase if I decide to keep the set.

Mine came damaged as well. Corner was crushed in. It is going back for a replacement. Customer service was terrible it took almost 5 days before they sent me an RMA. They must be insane providing this level of service at those high prices.

Although to be fair, the customer service has always* been shit. Not just for this release, but in general.

*I should clarify that "always", at least for me, only extends back to when TRSI was bought out. Before that, I cannot say.

sounds like pre damaged goods.. so either people get it or nothing dunno if they wait for a new less damaged batch..

My copy of Macross Plus arrived today - thankfully undamaged.

Two questions.

1. It says Region B on the back. I can play that region, but I assume this is in error. I don't think Crunchyroll sells Region B product.

2. How in the living hell are you supposed to get the discs out of this stupid thing without bending them in half and damaging them? Pressing on the hub sure doesn't seem to do it.

I finally heard back from the customer service guys. "Sorry your package hasn't arrived yet. Wait a week to see if it shows up and then email us and we'll settle the accounts."

Finally was able to open mine. No damage thankfully but yeah the disc after I got them off with a bit of a fight went in a spare case I had floating around. It’s aesthetically nice looking to do it this way but those disc hubs suck. This reminds me so much of the poor choices of holding a disc for aesthetics we saw during the DVD era.

They didn't bother to print separate Region A sheets, so yeah it's a error.

I gently pulled while twisting until the discs came loose. I think the hubs are just foam so they're held by friction, pressing them won't work.

Thanks, Starstream. Rotating the discs while lifting the discs worked. My hubs aren't foam, though, they're hard molded plastic. I don't think I want to chance putting the discs back on them, since you have to force them onto the hubs.

I call BS.

My copy arrived today undamaged, so obviously they can send you out an undamaged copy as a replacement - they just don't want to.

Well, if they're not going to send out replacement copies because they're afraid they'll be damaged and returned, they might as well not send out any copies to anyone.

Or, how about this, they actually send out undamaged copies and package them well enough so that they're not damaged. Wonder if they ever thought of that.

PSA: Don't pull the discs! These disc holders are really cheap and tight. The trick is to push the center really hard - this will lift the disc up enough to get it free.

I don't want anyones discs to break with this pricey set
