So what happens when the expansion continues? Change names again in a year or two? They might as well wait for all the expanding to stop, because it appears we're going to see some more shifting around in the next two years or so.

Conference names are more then just name its really a brand so as stupid as it looks having 12 teams and being the big 10 I get why.

Your brand can evolve with you. Having 12 teams and being called "the Big 10" is stupid. Which 2 aren't big?

Explain those conferences to a non-sports fan or a foreigner.

[While I think it's stupid -- and it is -- I really don't care. I think it's just funny.]

Jeremiah Masoli is officially going to Ole Miss. He'll be walking on and is eligible immediately for his senior season because he graduated at Oregon and is enrolling in a grad school program that Oregon doesn't offer. The grad school program is parks and recreation management, so maybe he's trying to be the next Leslie Knope.

In other news, Bryce Brown, who was the number one ranked running back in the 2009 recruiting class and who made a spectacle of the recruiting process last year, has left Tennessee. This wasn't unexpected, as rumors about him leaving have been constant all year. He didn't man up and tell Tennessee coach Derek Dooley in person, and instead sent him a text message saying he was leaving. Brown now wants to transfer to Kansas State (Brown is from Kansas), but Tennessee is refusing to release him from his scholarship, so Brown will have to sit out a year, lose a year of eligibility, and pay his own way. Brown is going to appeal to the NCAA to try and force Tennessee to release him.

LMao I almost lost my lunch reading that (which is obviously only so he can keep playing football)

As for Brown I think its a joke he isn't asking to go to Florida or UGA its freaking Kansas State! Let the kid go.

I'm so glad he ended up not going to Miami last year. We had a verbal commitment from him for the longest time, but we ended up withdrawing the offer because he kept extending the date of his decision. Dodged a bullet with that one.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock is replacing Pat Hayden as the NBC analyst for Notre Dame football games. It's interesting that the last 2 analysts for Notre Dame games have been Hayden, a USC grad, and now Mayock, a Boston College grad, as USC and BC are 2 of Notre Dame's biggest rivals. Mayock will continue to work at NFL Network.

Regardless of his off the field conduct, I'm anxious to see how a Pac10 QB performs in the SEC. I actually think he's a perfect fit for Houston Nutt's wildcat/rebel/hog.

Ever since Randy Shannon got the head coaching gig, we've seen big changes in the Miami recruiting scene. As soon as we got wind of his bad character rearing its ugly head the scholarship offer was rescinded. He's a massive talent though and if he could ever just play football, he has all the tools to be a superstar.

Iowa State is dealing with flooding in Ames and rather than practicing are sandbagging the athletic facilities. The football stadium hasn't been hit but it is surrounded by water and the practice field is flooded. So far Hilton Coliseum, where the basketball teams, as well as the soccer facility, have been flooded. It's the second major flood in three years to hit an Iowa school. The University of Iowa was hit hard by a 2008 flood. I didn't think Iowa State was going to be good this season but this certainly doesn't help.

Pitt/Utah should be a good game, Southern Miss./SC awesome and USC/Hawaii not a bad kickoff day for Thursday!

I'm scared of how hyped and highly-ranked Iowa is this year. In the past Iowa has not lived up to expectations when they're high like this. In an ESPN story today Iowa is listed as having the best shot at the National Title game. They've got the best schedule in the Big 10, with Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin all visiting Kinnick Stadium. Their toughest road game will likely be at Arizona. That game could be incredibly hot and is a 9:30 PM Central time kickoff, which will be very odd for the players that are used to playing morning or early afternoon games. That is one thing I hate about the Big 10. Night games are so exciting but most teams only place 1-2 times at night.

In that case I was already planning to hold you accountable if they lost to the gross OSU.

I'm just happy cause I don't have fall classes on Friday which means thursday will be nothing but FOOTBALL

Garcia better watch it in SC because he's got the beast Connor Shaw right behind him I know he wouldn't start him over Garcia but he better watch it

Losing Norwood and Geathers will be big, but Cliff Matthews has the potential to really step up.
