That finale was incredible.

As someone that thought season 1 was only okay but had some great stuff sprinkled in, season 2 stepped up hard and was top ****ing notch.

Never thought when watching Thor 1 in the theater that Loki would become the most consistent and well written character in the whole MCU. His whole arc has been so good and nothing about it felt forced or unearned. Honestly don't see it working this well if not for Hiddleston being a great actor and fully embracing the character. He will go down as one of the top comic book castings of all time.

Its Comics Explained

he says its not really Loki the Story God, but a minor Elder that has to be the custodian to the timeline.

Not Living Tribunal Level Cosmic Entity Level.

But the character comes from a Jim Starlin story within the Infinity Arc.

While the MCU Asgardians have only a passing resemblance to the characters from the source lore I do believe that Loki's fate in this
[Show spoiler]was a direct reference/homage to one of the tales involving Yggdrasil and Odin. As I understand it Odin's trial of being strung up on the tree leads to him gaining more power to help humanity
.

I had absolutely no idea what I watched last night but I know I enjoyed seeing it. After digesting it I quite enjoyed it and think the two seasons as a whole fit together fantastically now that we can see the entire picture. Bravo to the teams behind both seasons. Yes there are issues that could have been tightened up but in the end I am satisfied, just please don’t try and force a Season 3. Take the Wandavision path and leave when your story is done.

Also, they could easily pivot away from Kang as the big bad if they wanted to now.

Tell the truth.....Loki should have known he was physically stronger for what took all those tries to realize Timely couldn't withstand that atmosphere.

Even after he mastered the time-slipping, it still took that long to realize a stronger being is needed to finish the task?

Was Sylvie needed to for him to adjust?

Default Loki For All Time

Following up an incredibly successful S1 by switching show runners paid off with an equally great yet very distinct S2. If this is it for Hiddleston, he goes out on top, and Loki as the god he was destined to become.

The show runner should be given Secret Wars.

I'm not smart enough for this show.

[Show spoiler]
It seems like the finale is pivoting away from Kang. Dismissing the variants, "meh we'll deal with them when they pop up". I'm thinking we don't get a Kang Dynasty movie anymore.

And poor Loki. So his fate is to sit there by himself for all time? It's noble of him, but not exactly a happy ending.

This was very interesting! The whole arc of the season reminded me a lot of Doctor Who, with its infinite tries to fix something and its noble sacrifices and its gangly British men in neckties. Why this story was relegated to a Disney+ show baffles my mind. These two seasons have been the only MCU material to properly develop the new multiverse story and the character of Kang and his variants, and none of the actual films have fit in with it at all, especially the embarrassing Quantumania which made Kang look like a little wimp. Majors really shined in his multiple roles here. And Tom Hiddleston is without a doubt one of the MVPs of this whole endeavor and I’m thrilled he got such a powerful character growth and resolution.

On your first point I completely agree, if they pivot that way it would now feel totally natural.

On the second, I find it a bit poetic because in
[Show spoiler]season one Sif told him something to the effect of he’ll always be/is destined to be alone forever.

[Show spoiler]It was basically a loop that he broke. Which was kind of evident with the one character being named Ouroboros... and even the finale had the same episode title as the first episode.

[Show spoiler]Pretty much he went from selfish to selfless. Sylvie accused him of only wanting a throne, which he said was his birthright, because he was selfish and now he's taken one he didn't want where he'll be alone just to save everybody.

That business at the end there reminded me of The Fountain.

Loved this season too.

I feel like Loki is too complex for the average viewer. That could be a reason why many are not watching... despite it being the best Marvel has to offer at the moment.
