Ah, thanks.

The 2001 Director's Edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture - with new scenes, upgraded VFX, etc. - has never been released on Blu-ray, but it was the one DVD that was throwing the uniformity of my case shelf off.

I threw together a quick cover from the original DVD scan, if anybody wants it please let me know. It's nothing fancy, just resized to fit a standard two-disc case.

It's a shame that the Director's Cut probably never will come out on blu, as all the extra effects and the new scenes were rendered in standard definition only.

I once read an interview with one of the lead CGI guys on that project; it was actually done in what he called "half-HD", so if they uprezzed it to 1080 the pixels and stuff would be clean and not have any weirdo aspect ratios. All of the VFX artists supposedly asked the studio for the time and money to do all the prep work in HD back in '01 - to save on having to rebuild it later for a potential HD release - but they were turned down.

Anyhow, I stuck it into an old HD-DVD case to differentiate it on my shelf, and I think the classic poster looks nice with the maroon. I'll have to get it printed up "for real" eventually, but for now it's just off of my home printer:

Can someone in this thread make a slip for X Men: First Class? I have all of the X Men films on Blu-ray(The first 4 are the re-releases from earlier this year) and First Class is the only one I don't have a slip for.

Hey! I'm a long time lurker and admirer of this thread, and I'm a student in university studying film production. For my assessment in the Design module, I had to create a product, one of the options of which was a DVD cover. I jumped at the chance to do this (despite it not being on my chosen format of course). I have to do a presentation of my artwork on Tuesday, so I was wondering even though it looks extremely amateurish compared to the great art you post, if there was any criticism you could give me to tidy it up a bit in the little time I have. Thanks for your time

Default Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

Been working on this for about 2 weeks total. Wanted to make a better looking cover than what Best Buy had done for their exclusive. I plan on doing this same treatment for the first J.J. Abrams Star Trek as well. PM for download links.

Not bad, not bad at all. I like the gray, and I like the Title Treatment on the front. I wonder if it wouldn't look better if you stuck with one colour for the lettering on the spine? Also, I think Superman himself should be pushed a little more to the centre on the front of the cover and enlarged a bit. Just to balance the elements more. (See my quick redo below.)

It's original and cool, but if you're being graded on how well it sells the film, I'm not so sure. Otherwise a stellar effort. I'd love to hear the feedback you get in class.

Has anyone done a Louie cover for Season One (or could provide me a scan of the cover artwork)? The set I just bought came in a DVD-sized case as a BR/DVD combo pack.

I called 'em up and the rep told me that they didn't see any "alternative packaging" in their system (even though on the website it shows a Blu-ray case'd version of the same discs for $18.99). She's going to "look into it" and supposedly get back to me. If I hear back, I'll PM you.

BasedSPACER made some modifications to his Star Trek Into Darkness cover to include all the retailer exclusives. Matched up with the new black four-disc case from The Wolverine 3D, it really looks awesome:

Does anyone here make a slipcover for the new X-Men and the Wolverine blu-ray collection? The offical release is for a 6 disc case, I've upgraded it to a 10 disc case (171.5 mm (h) x 135mm (l) x 25mm (w)) to include all the disc that hold the special features and I can't seem to find anyone who can make something to fit it. I would also need cover art, aswell.
