Kyle Parker agrees to deal with the Rockies, but can still play football for Clemson.

Can't believe they left out Swinney's great comments, something along the lines of 'Parker missed practice this morning was agreed to ahead of time. Besides he needs to find a place to live in Clemson and probably a bank'

Could be a big day for UGA. The number 1 or 3 RB in the nation (depending on where you look) is expected to commit today, giving UGA a top 3 QB and a top 3 RB for the next two classes.

Not that the rankings matter much lol.

Helped out Bama getting all those monster classes , wouldn't be to much to expect the same thing from UGA.

True, but UGA typically has top 10 classes -- but does not always finish top 10.

I just can't believe UGA is so screwed up that they have 10 offensive returning starters, and a redshirt freshman QB...HELLO! And poor AJ Green now has his third QB in as many years. And just as they mesh at the end of the year - he'll bolt for the NFL (can't blame him). So next year, UGA will have a solid O-line, solid RBs, an experienced QB and .... NO WR!!

LOL

I just can't see how they don't plan ahead better.

You never know what you're getting with recruiting. Notre Dame was getting top 5-10 classes every year during the Charlie Weis era but that certainly didn't translate into wins. Iowa usually doesn't get top 40 classes but in 2005 had a top 5 class and nearly every player in that class flopped. Last year's top running back Bryce Brown has already left Tennessee and is in limbo because they refuse to release him from his scholarship. It's just hard to know what an 18-year old is going to do.

Agreed, but I still wish my team would plan better with what they have. They should've known about the QB issues. They should've known their stud QB (Stafford) and RB (Knowhson) would leave early for the NFL. They should've known that their current stud WR (AJ Green) will leave early for the NFL.

You plan for that so you don't get what we have last year, this year, and next year.

It's aggravating as hell for a fan/booster.

It sounds like BYU is going to go independent for football and join the WAC for other sports. BYU will also play 4-6 WAC teams in football each year. This really hurts the Mountain West. When they got Boise State they legitimately thought they had a shot for an automatic bid but the league has arguably taken a step back with the defections of Utah and now BYU.

Supposedly BYU was shocked they didn't get an invitation to join the Pac-10 but everyone knew they weren't going to get invited. Pac-10 schools are usually research and medical schools, and BYU focuses on undergraduate studies. In addition BYU will not play on Sundays, which can be a major scheduling headache.

If Boise wants to jump ship can they? Or are they locked into the MW for years?

By the way, the story around Christian LeMay (the number 3 QB you alluded to) is an odd one. He's not going to play football this year because he was suspended from school for 30 days and would not have been able to graduate early, so he is going to finish high school in a "private setting" and enroll at Georgia in January. It's not publicly known what LeMay did to earn the suspension but it did not involve drugs, violence, or weapons.

I'm sure if BYU leaves, there will be replacements coming into the Mountain West. In the next couple years we are very likely to see a seismic shift in the landscape of the conferences. The Mountain West will be adding more teams undoubtedly. In all honesty the best move for BYU is to go independent, with all respect to the Church of Latter Day Saints, it does not mix very well with the direction college football is headed.

BAMBOOZLED! The kid (Wilder) opted for FSU instead.

While I'd rather he picked UGA, it's really fine by me. In addition to choosing my other alma mater, he didn't pick Florida.

ESPN is reporting Fresno State and Nevada are going to join the MWC. This could lead BYU to reconsider going independent in football because it would seriously harm their other sports. If those schools leave the WAC would only have 6 teams. I don't know if a conference can survive with 6 teams. There really aren't any other teams they could invite to join and the conference isn't prestigious enough anyway to get a team to leave their current conference. The MWC is supposedly offering BYU a deal similar to what Texas is receiving in the Big 12 where they get more revenue.

I wouldn't be surprised if the MWC isn't done with expansion and tries to get 12 teams so they can have a conference title game. Possible expansion candidates could be Houston, Rice and UTEP from Conference USA. I can't see the MWC being interested in any of the remaining WAC teams. None of them bring enough prestige or tradition to be worthwhile.

I'm getting really excited for football to start, only 2 more weeks from tonight. As an Iowa and UNI fan I don't have much to look forward to, Iowa has Eastern Illinois and UNI has a bye (the conference changed around their schedule when the playoffs expanded and truly screwed UNI over), but there are some great week 1 games. Obviously the most exciting game is Boise State and Virginia Tech. If Boise wins that and can beat Oregon State in week 3 they've got a real shot at the title game. Some other good week 1 games include Connecticut-Michigan, UCLA-Kansas State, Washington-BYU, LSU-North Carolina, and Navy-Maryland. Outside of the first weekend of March Madness this is probably my favorite weekend of the year.

Very good week 1 games and even the cupcake games are good because you get to see the big boys play lol... But Yes my circled games Boise Vtech (I have tickets but not sure what my school schedule will look like) and big time hyped for the Navy game (god I worry about that option on our weak team).

Even the Thursday games are worth following as I mentioned before

WTF?

Police: Oregon St. OL found naked in stranger's home

A redshirt Oregon State University football player has been dismissed from the team after police say they found him naked and intoxicated in a stranger's home and had to use stun guns to take him into custody.

Corvallis police say they received the call about a naked intruder early Sunday.

Lt. Tim Brewer says responding officers ordered 19-year-old Tyler Patrick Thomas of Kalispell, Mont., to get on the ground.

He says Thomas refused and instead dropped into a three-point stance like a football player and lunged at the officers. At that point, Brewer says, two officers fired their stun guns.

Brewer says Thomas "absolutely was intoxicated." Thomas was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

A home phone listing for Thomas couldn't be found.

OSU athletics spokesman Steve Fenk says the redshirt freshman offensive lineman was dismissed from the team Monday.
