Finally watched the final episode today. I'd had some things spoiled for me beforehand, so it wasn't that big a surprise, but I thought it was mostly well done. I like where it all ended- it was a beautiful, bittersweet little bow on top of it all. Definitely gonna have to watch a recap/easter egg video, because I'm still not sure I understand all of it, but I liked it.

That said, I still can't help but feel like it could've been condensed. I mostly liked the season, but at the end of it, I was left with that "did this need to be 6 episodes?" feeling. Either a movie, or maybe even a few additional episodes to the end of season 1, and I think it could've been wrapped up. In an odd way, while everyone this season ended up being important, I also felt like somehow they were all under-utilized. I don't know how to put it; it's been so long since I've seen season 1, so maybe I'm just misremembering things, but I feel like Sylvie especially, I was expecting something....different? More? I don't know. Something feels unfulfilled, not just with her, but with the general premise and all that, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Casey and B-15, for instance- it was great having them back, but they didn't really feel necessary, especially Casey. And in underutilizing him, I felt like he even kinda lost some of the charm he had in season 1. He was just kinda there. Dox could've been fleshed out more too and made really interesting, but I think she just fizzled out as well.

Maybe it was just the smaller scale that we're still getting used to in the MCU. Season 1 was so grandiose and widespread, and season 2 was quite small. It felt a bit same-y, probably because a lot of the events literally did happen multiple times. I get that the true stakes this time, aside from the giant multiversal stakes of the Loom, were quite small and personal, and sometimes that makes for a slower show, which I'm not against. Loki's journey needed this much time, no pun intended, and that's fine. I liked where and how it all ended, it just felt a little slow to get there.

I do hope we haven't seen the end of Loki. I do hope they let him rest for a while, though. I know he's a fan favorite, but don't lessen the ending of the show just to put him in something again. Sounds like Tom is done with him, at least for the time being, so I hope they let his sacrifice mean something, at least for now. I was a bit bummed when they brought him back after Infinity War at all, but I liked what they did with him. It's a bittersweet ending, but still a fitting and beautiful one. Sometimes that's better than an outright "happy" ending.

Hopefully S1 sold enough copies for Disney to support more releases.

I did my part, both the 4K 2 disc set and the Disney Movie Club exclusive 4-disc BD & DVD set.

With the show ending, I'm a bit surprised they didn't just hold it over and release a complete series instead. Probably holding off on Ms. Marvel for the disc release of The Marvels so WandaVision could be out first, and probably won't do Falcon/WS until the new Cap movie is about to come out, but they could've released Hawkeye or Moon Knight in the meantime.

I'm still annoyed they didn't put the GOTG special on GOTGv3, because I don't see how else it'll be released unless they put it and I Am Groot together.

Ratings went up over the course of the season. So much for that guy in the Marvel's thread claiming this show was a big bomb.

I like how much they planned this out. Both the first episode title and the first thing Loki utters in the series comes back in the end.

"Burdened with glorious purpose" indeed.

I think it was smart because it gives the option to stay the course or to make a change.

I need to rewatch both seasons again, there's just a lot to chew on here.

What purpose does the tva serve now? There's no sacred timeline and no pruning needed unless I'm missing something.

They are responsible for hunting down all variants of Kang while 616 Kang is on trial.

I think Loki gives off Sci-Fi wanna be too intelligent for "average" viewers.

Its super-stylish but tear away the look and the techno-babble, its quite basic.

And Loki should have been smart enough to figure his last move out much much earlier.

Im trying to figure out if he needed all that time/journey/relevation for the finale.

Yes because that time was changing him. His original ideas were still selfish. He wanted to save them, so he would not be lonely. Loki before would have just killed Sylvie. That was not an option for him. He needed that time to not be self-serving and make the sacrifice he was avoiding.

I was going to ask this in The Marvels thread, but it has been locked. Why was the Loki season 2 finale and the premier for The Marvels released on the same day? Talk about bad timing/time management.

How is it bad timing? I saw Marvels opening night and came home and watched Loki, it was a damn fun evening for the MCU.

I'm thinking most people chose one over the other, and if they were already invested in Loki, they probably stayed home to watch that. If that happened, I doubt the bad word of mouth for The Marvels is going to help motivate them to see it in theaters now.

Don't forget, there is a difference between die hard MCU fans and casual viewers. The die hard fans watched both. It's the casual movie going audience that catapults the MCU box office numbers, and by releasing both items on the same day, I feel like this is where it would be effected.

Finally started this last night and watched first 3 episodes. I guess it's fine so far. Will probably knock out the last 3 today or tomorrow. It's like I'm not even in a rush to finish them.

I did have a strong craving for McDonald's after watching E3, though.

Marathoned the whole season today, Loki is still the best Disney+ property.

Yeah Season 2 felt smaller, but a lot more intense and the stakes higher. Some places like The Worlds Fair and The Loom begged for wider shot composition and camera movement.

Loki and Kang will be back, too much has been invested in the characters to leave them in limbo.

Now that I've seen it, I'm going to watch both seasons back to back and see what I think of it as a whole.
