I went with adding the emi xpa-5 due to owners reporting the Denon avr6400 getting very hot running all 11 channels which is what I'm doing I also saw alot of people suggest getting a fan to help vent the avr congrats on the TV as well I had to settle on a Vizio p-65f1 due to the finishing cost of my basement being a tad bit more than planned for

Yeah I've the conversations about heat. I run all separate amps anyway. If the Denon still feels warm I'll get a AC Infinity S9 or similar. Not to worried about it, bought a 5 year extended warranty for it.

The TV (Sony XBR-65X900F) and receiver(Denon AVR-X6400H) came in yesterday. Got it all wired in, haven't ran room correction yet. I did get the TV set up with some "calibration settings" from a couple of review sites. Very pleased with it's performance. Tonight is calibrate the AVR, only going to run 7.1 at the moment. I may end up with the 7.1.4 later on
I currently rent , so I can't install speaker on the ceiling.

Anyway, I'm excited to run room correcting and give a good listen tonight.

I actually prefer mine without running Audyssey calibration these days. All speakers set at default levels.

That's interesting.

Do you at least measure distance and plug those numbers in?

I ran just the quick calibration last night to get the distances and levels set. Sounds great. Maybe tonight I'll run the full calibration.

Yes I measure distance and then I manually set crossover and all speakers set to 'small'

Hi RockyIII,

Funny as I was just thinking of doing that set all levels to 0db, but what to do with the sub(s). Set to 0db and adjust the gain to your liking. How are you setting your sub(s)

Love the new Denon, seems be be much smoother (less "harsh") than the Onkyo it replaced. I like it so much that I might try running my CD transport and turntable through it just to compare it with the separate 2 channel set up I have. A project for this weekend maybe.

For those wondering my 2 channel set up is, Sherbourn Pre-1 preamp, Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable, Sherbourn CD-1, Emotiva XDA-1 , Emotiva XPA-2 amp. I run the Sherbourn Pre-1 in home theater bypass when not running dedicated 2 channel though it.

I have a Denon 710 and a 5.1.2 setup. After a recent update, my receiver now defaults to DTSHD+NeuX, unless it’s an Atmos or DTS:X movie. I understand that the track is being upmixed, but how can I disable this?

Use the Direct mode.

Since I got a Denon my previous Onkyo receiver + speakers have been sitting in a box. Not sure if I want to sell it or use it for a second smaller room

All to 0 and then from the manual channel levels from the remote I manually increase subwoofer level to +4dbl. I keep the gain exatly halfway on all subwoofers.
If a track is in Atmos I also manually raise the atmos speakers levels to +1.5dbl, but if not, all to 0.
Everything else is disabled (Dynamic everything off)

Lol, had the same thoughts myself. Ended up selling the Onkyo on fleabay. The money will fund a Sony UBP-X700 and some 4k Blurays.

I'll buy a cheap newer 4k compatible receiver for a 2nd room if needed.

My Onkyo is 4K compatible, hence why I am on the fence about selling it on the used market

I have the AVR 1712. So it's not Atmos. Was wondering if 7 channel with back surrounds will be better than 5 channel with 2 heights

If your room allows for rear speakers, sure

I've connected my LG OLED 65C7 to my Denon W3200, with HDMI ARC connector, I'm able to listen NETFLIX on my receiver, even Atmos. However for some unknown reason the sound drops every few seconds. I've tried everything that I can imagine to fix the problem, cables tight, settings etc. Does anybody know what is causing this and anything that I can do, thanks in advance.

Try a different source other than Netflix?

Firmware update? Try a different input on the receiver?
