Okay, here's the final version of the Mission: Impossible set, designed to hold the standard versions of films 1, 2, and 3, along with the Best Buy-exclusive edition of Ghost Protocol. PM me if you want a copy.

Great cover mate

I don't know if requests are taken here, apologies if they are not allowed. I am looking for a space saver cover (Viva Elite 15mm) for all three James Dean films. Anyone working on this or have plans to work on this? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'd appreciate if any of you guys will keep an eye out for a clean scan of the cover of the Criterion edition of THIEF that's about to be released. I'd like to remake that with this for the front...

That is, unless one of you hotdogs wants to do it yourself. Here's link to a hires copy of this image if anyone finds it useful...

Wow! Excellent work! I especially like the loose, but ordered, layout of the back. You make it seem so effortless, ha ha. The way you carried over the colours and background from the front poster smacks of professionalism.
Welcome to the forums.

The custom work I'm starting, at least for now, is mostly for films in my personal collection that I think have sucky/photoshoppy artwork that needs replacing. The NOES collection would count, except I got mine signed by Heather Langenkamp, aka Nancy from 1, 3, and 7. Can't replace THAT.

Sorry!

Funny you should say that, I was chatting to a guy on Twitter about the Struzan doc. I've switched from UK Netflix to US so I can see it.

On the subject of classic movie posters, here's some of my faves http://blushots.weebly.com/uk-quad-posters.html

Yeah see, after the mid-90's posters were all really disappointing.

That cover is awesome!

I'd actually be interested in printing it and using it since I have this movie on Blu-Ray, but really hate the official cover that they made for it.

Love them. You must be the guy behind the classic VHS-style covers for Vacation and European Vacation. Loved those covers too.

Haven't been in this custom art thread long, but those two are two that I've seen and really love.

May be doing some thread-sifting and PMing soon. I'd love to get some of your work on my blu-ray shelf!

Also, question: Why would a client want those made? Those films aren't even on Blu in the US, and I wasn't aware the UK versions were separate discs. Does he/she want them for novelty's sake? Is he just repackaging his DVDs? Not that you necessarily KNOW, but why do you suppose? (This question is open to anyone by the way.)

I ask because I was considering doing one for Psycho IV, despite the fact that it's only on a triple-pack DVD. Just so it's uniform with the Scream Factory Psycho II and IIIs. Got some others in mind too. Didn't want to do it if other people thought it was a dumb idea to make covers for films that are only on DVD though.

First of all, that video was fantastic.

About the Struzan documentary. I haven't seen it, so I don't have a ton of room to talk. I don't know if the doc touches on this at all, but I like to tell people whenever I can that while Struzan painted many of the great movie posters of yesteryear, he did not design many of them (if any).

Studios would hire (and may still, I don't know) artists to design movie posters and then once they found a poster they liked, they'd bring in Struzan to repaint it with the actor's faces and possibly make small tweaks.

I know this because a friend of mine, Wayne Coe, designed the posters for a number of Universal films in the 80s: Back to the Future, Brazil, Dune, Out of Africa, The Fly, Weird Science, and a few others. And yet, Struzan gets all the credit for something like Back to the Future. The only thing different in Wayne's poster is that Michael J. Fox's face wasn't on it (it was the face of a friend/model of Wayne's posing in the McFly costume). Universal liked it, obviously, handed the design to Struzan who basically repainted it with Fox's face and got all the credit.

And that really makes me mad.

Well, thank you for ruining the poster art of Back to the Future for me.
