So I ended up keeping the Azur 351 and am taking the store credit on the Anthem.
I hooked up the bluray player to the H/K with an HDMI cable, and then a Digital Optical cable from the same bluray player to the AZUR 351. Then took my RC Mini surround speakers off the wall and set them on top of my front L/R RC Mini’s and hooked up one pair to each receiver. Then put in some CD’s and movies and would just mute one receiver and then the other to have an instant A/B comparison between the two amps. In the end the AZUR is so much more immersive… effects in movies come right out into the room and the soundstage is cavernous compared to the H/K. Separation and being able to unclutter and stay composed with any dynamic scene or music is incredible. Some movie scene’s instant dynamics from a quiet moment to full on mayhem scared the crap out of me a few times and made me jump out of my seat like I haven’t had happen in a long while. I don’t even recall the Anthem having this strong of an effect with the same scenes/music. ![]() Now I’m thinking of taking the AZUR into my Dyn dealer in the future and demoing the X14’s on it to see how it performs! ![]() |

Hey guys, so my buddy that I gave my H/K AVR 347 to a while ago for use with his Dynaudio Excite X14 fronts, X24 center and DM 2/6 rears called me a few nights ago saying he had watched a Blu-ray movie and the AVR347 all of a sudden started turning the volume down very quickly all by itself. It turned itself down all the way to -80dB which is basically muted, and wouldn’t let him turn the volume back up for a couple seconds.
He was listening at a moderately high volume level with a movie that was using all 5 of the speakers when the AVR did this. I had this receiver for 8 years before I gave it to him and I never had it do this volume adjusting by itself before, and I ran it pretty hard at times. Granted, I was just using my Energy RC Mini's and he's running the Dynaudio's off it now, but I've never heard of a receiver turning itself down if it's overworked, wouldn't it just shut off till it cools down? Is this maybe a safety function of the AVR347, or is there an issue with it? |

I have not found anyone having the same issue on the net with that AV receiver. |

Yeah, it's incredibly strange. I really can't see the H/K being overdriven with the Dyn's at the volume level he's talking about. The Dyn's are not as efficient as the RC Mini's I used with it, but still they're 8 ohms.
The H/K is still working by the way, I didn't know that till he told me last night. I thought it was dead after it did that volume changing on it's own. But he said after he called me he turned it off for an hour or so and then turned it back on and finished his movie. ![]() He's also sent an email to H/K asking them if they know what it means. Will let you know if they reply to him. |

Yeah, that's what it seems like.
He heard back from Harman customer support. They didn't seem to be familiar with this issue, but suggested to do a processor reset to get rid of any "bugs that may have crept in". I think it should be fine now since he hasn't had trouble with it since then. I just told him to keep the remote close by in case it decides to switch things up and cranky the volume up by itself instead. ![]() |

I got black Baffle with Piano Black finish like they have in most pics you probably have seen of the 3 speaker from the contour line. Actaully exactly like my new Avatar on AVS. Oh and the X-18 are Actually Satin Black Lacquer.
