I'm basing this off screen shots from three different sources. Plus I hate the fact that the pumped up contrast makes it looks like it was filmed in the middle of a field instead of underneath a canopy of trees.

I find it rather interesting from a socialogical point of view that many of the same people that have blasted DNR in any form are OK with the new Predator just because it's a new release and has bonus features.

Honestly, I'm somewhere in the middle and if the DNR was used responsibly then fine I can live with it. Let's face it I'm sure there are no releases out there that don't use some kind of DNR whether you notice it or not. Scratch, hair and anomaly removal is technically a form of DNR regardless of what it is actually called.

I think people argue BLACK or WHITE (extremes) just because that is the nature of human interaction.

As far as the new Predator is concerned I will be buying it only because I foolishly sold my copy and now I need to re-buy it if I want to own it. Lets face facts I'm not gonna go back out and buy the featureless version. I just hope the movie looks acceptable. DNR aside I do think the screencaps show an improvement in the contrast of the image. Granted I can live without plastic action figure Arnie but if it is not constantly throughout the film I guess that will be OK.

Let this be a lesson to those of us who blindly sell off the older version in hopes that the new one will be better. If they remaster and re-release The Terminator I think we may be having this same conversation, hopefully I'm wrong. I guess I won't sell that one off as soon as I hear of a new release.

I don't plan on spending days just to figure out who said this and who said that. I was making a generalization. No need to get defensive.

I just think that when it comes to something a particular person may love or maybe they have championed the idea of a reissue for a while they will usually except the new just cause it is new regardless of whether it really is an improvement or not. That goes for lay-persons as well as studio folk.

I'd like to see if the John McTiernan (the director) has any official statement on the new vs. old look of the film. I'd be willing to bet it was studio brass that approved the changes but then I could be wrong.

At this point it shouldn't be about a DNR war it should be about doing a particular title justice. If that means it has a bit too much DNR than that's in the eye of the beholder and frankly that's something that we will never agree on.

By the way, sorry if I offended with my generalization. It was just an observation.

My opinion is the Director should oversee the remastering process if at all possible. Ridley Scott did a great job with Blade Runner The Final Cut....

Hardly comparable. Scratches and dust have nothing to do with the movie. Making a gritty movie look glossy is completely different from removing damage and dirt.

No... they could lose the DNR and do it properly. 20 years isn't a long time. Film has been around for over 100. When classics like Sunrise and The General (both 1927) look better than Predator AND Predator 2, then someone dropped the ball.

Mr Joshua, due to several recent legal problems, Mr McTiernan doesn't have anymore anywhere near the clout of Mr Scott ... Scott is still churning out blockbusters, (that they make money or not is another story), whereas, sadly, McTiernan doesn't.

How many blue-screen VFX does Sunrise & The General have?

What part of the Mexican jungle were they filmed in?

LOL yeah let's just throw things like budget, lighting, and film stock quality out the window.

Hi am new here. Why does it says that it comes out in June 29, when i already have it in my collection and bought it in 16/06/2010 ?

I don't live in USA, i am from Europe from Greece. I don't know if we might get movies earlier than you do, but i have it from the day i told you and just wanted to know.

Thanks

Release dates vary from country to country, the June 29 date stated in the thread title is the US date and since this is listed under "Blu-ray Movies - North America" that is the release dates you will see posted here. For Greece and other countries you may want to check out https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-movies-international/

If you have the North American release, there are plenty of dealers in Europe who will import a title from America, weeks before the official U.S. release date. No-one in Europe is obliged to keep to the North American release date and discs are, of course, distributed to dealers well before the actual release date to ensure that they are available to customers from that date. Here in the UK I can, if I want, obtain most North American releases weeks before they are officially released over there.

I've looked at the screenshots here on bluray.com from the Predator 2 blu-ray; if there's DNR, I can't see it.

It varies from scene to scene on Predator 2. And in all honesty, it's not all that bad on the title. There are a few scenes where the DNR is plain as day, but overall the image retained quite a bit of detail. None of them were as bad as the plastic Arnie in red shirt pick. My main problem with the P2 BD was that compared to the DVD, the image was zoomed in. It wasn't a lot, but it was noticeable during a side by comparison. It blows the old DVD out of the water in every other department though. It just could have been a lot better.

speaking of T2.. I dont have ANY of the Terminator series, even salvation... Is it safe to say that T2 skynet edition will be the best edition and codec to come out? $10 on amazon, its gonna be tought to pass that one up... Thats why I hate buying older blus, because they will usually re release with a better codec or OAR..

Rumor is they're putting out a newly remastered version of T1, so I'd say the odds of another T2 release are very high.
