Any word on the PQ of the recent Canadian release of Downfall? The UK version has some DNR and if the CA version does not then I would gladly double dip on this one.

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the US and UK versions of "White Christmas"?

Thanks.

Some might say this don't belong but after inspecting the link I say it should (expand and check the tombstone and smoking cop screens for good example of dnr and don't get me started on the red woman screen) Sure US is brighter and looks pretty good most of the time with some added sharpness but the lack of grain annoys me.

US - AVC 19000 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 3865 kbps 24-bit, BD25 (Region A) Some DNR in many scenes (http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film3/blu-r...ow_blu-ray.htm) Best AQ

Torrente: He got back to me about Universal Soldier german disc. He hasn't bought it himself but found this link http://www.dvdparadies.at/Blu-Ray-Sh...rsal%20Soldier

So maybe it's an uncut Austrian disc and that's why no usual german shops have it? Now you now a little more at least and it exists

The specs appear to match the French BD release as well. According to the listing at ofdb.de this disc has forced subtitles. Shame, would have been an ideal release if it didn't.

Thank you so much Wesslan!!!

But now I'm wondering... I was ready to get the Australian release as it was supposed to be the best disc but maybe the "AU" in the listing was meant for Austrian and not Australian?
And if the Austrian disc is the same as the French (which it seems to be - exact same specs-audio-extras-editor) then I already have it and I own the best edition thus far without knowing it

Haha well that is indeed head trouble. I can't really answer any of them I'm afraid but yes it seems like french and that is the same which make it easier for everybody. And since you have it, I guess it's french forced subs on that disc?

Thought Id posted this already but here goes anyway -

Conan the Barbarian (2011)

2D UK release has DTS-HD MA 7.1 sound - it is LOUD and AQ bitrate was very high, something like 5000 kbps+ I think. PQ bitrate I cant remember but I do remember thinking this must be close to a reference disc.

Not a patch on the Arnie one of course though!

Probably same as US 3D version then with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 / 48 kHz / 5868 kbps / 24-bit. Nothing beats the Russian 2D disc bitrate with MPEG-4 AVC 33000 kbps / 1080p / 23,976 fps / 2.35:1 but sounds like UK can be good for those who wants 2D and 7.1

DE/AU - AVC 34997 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 2234 kbps 16-bit, BD50 Best PQ (best compression and grain preservation)
The DE/AU is most likely to say FR/AT/DE given the above discussion. I doubt forced French/German subtitles are well liked in Australia.

My Japanese copy of The Italian Job arrived this morning! I'm pleased to report it has 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio in English, Japanese DD 5.1, English & Japanese subtitles, and ALL of the extras found on the U.S. version. It's also another super high bit-rate AVC encode with the correct aspect ratio. The top menu is in English which makes menu browsing a snap, all sub menus are Japanese of course but at least you're pointed in the general direction with the English top menu.
