Seems i guessed right! The discs are stacked in a jumbo sized case with an outer slip. As you can see it's 17 Discs compared to the Mill Creek's 18 Disc set. I've yet to open it up and have a look at the discs. When i do i'll edit it here with more info :-)
![]() ![]() Edit: Disc art is the same all round. We only have one bonus features disc so that explains why it's only a 17 disc set. Upon first look at the episode guide on the inside of the insert it seems to be an exact port of the Mill Creek set. So 2 Discs for Seasons 1, 2 , 4 , 5 & 6 with Seasons 3 & 7 having 3 Discs. ![]() ![]() ![]() After inserting the first disc seems we have a short video montage on the Menu. A step up in my opinion over the still image on the Mill Creek set. Screencap below: ![]() Last edited by Kasim2409; 11-01-2021 at 05:37 PM. |

Something else i caught up on the bonus disc. It doesn't include anything new that was filmed post the show's ending for example the 2018 cast reunion. It literally has every single season's (1-7) bonus feature except for commentaries on that disc
Whether or not that has impacted the episodes themselves seeing as it has more free space on the discs i wouldn't know as i don't have the software to check. |

It seems like there are 2 discs stacked on top of each other, which is better than Black Sails' complete series with all the discs stacked on top of each other. Mediumrare should get credit for adding a "play all" and I'm surprised they went for the extra effort of adding a video menu montage instead of just having a still image.
How is the picture quality? Can you see how much data/second is being used? |

Just noticed another featurette is missing on the UK set so that makes it 4.
From the US Bonus Disc 1: Rampart Documentary (1080i; 1.78:1; 29:54): An overview of the Rampart scandal. The participants are primarily journalists and former cops. |

Not just stacked, but overlapping and stacked. A case designed by Satan himself.

Started watching the show for the first time and whoa, it's epic!
Though whenever I read "CCH Pounder" I think it's some kind of meat or a steak, but it's just the name of an actress. I guess "Pounder" gave me that idea. |

Seems like Chiklis was just doing a Dennis Franz impression this entire series. Sipowicz should have had a spin off and done this show

Im rewatching it from the start, and let me tell you, it stands repeated viewings. It really is a fantastic show, and chiklis is awesome in this, because his portrayal is so nuanced, really goes through the entire spectrum of feelings. And the supporting cast is so great, dutch, claudette.
The biggest thing I like about it is how real it all feels, puts you in the middle of the action. Haven't seen any other series as intense and streetwise as this, perhaps the wire, but I feel the wire is more intellectual and less intense than this. Id love to read if there are other shows like this |

I just finished my first watch of this, fantastic how it just kept ramping up each season. It took me about 6 months to gradually work through the first 4 seasons as I'm not a binge watcher. The last 3 seasons took me about a month to hammer through, helped by some time off work.

The Shield debuted 20 years ago (yesterday). A terrific article with the cast and crew looking back:

Amazing. Absolutely an amazing show and I normally can't stand cop/detective series so this definitely felt fresh and original.
The ending was left open to interpretation, but it would be safe to say, that was "it." [Show spoiler] Lastly, it's unfortunate we didn't get much of Tavon as he looked like a tight, reliable guy though they didn't include him because of, well, trust issues. Lem, Terry, and Shane.. [Show spoiler] P.S. The guest stars (especially Forest Whitaker) and everyone else in the cast were also superb [Show spoiler]

Has anyone had trouble playing the original Digibook set on a specific player? I typically use an Xbox Series X to play movies and four (?!?) out of the 18 discs refuse to load. It sounds like they're spinning up and then it makes a noise and never completes the loading of the disc. The rest of the discs play completely fine and it's hard for me to imagine that FOUR discs in a set are defective. I don't have another player to test it on, unfortunately. This is the only blu-ray set I've had discs just refuse to load on.
I've contacted Mill Creek's support but I'm not optimistic. |
