There's definitely some "lay people" on the DF FB. Anybody that says anything in regards to any release having any sort of issue, the yes men jump in and proclaim how great the release is and how everyone is an "entitled crybaby complainer" these days. All the while washing DeFalco's balls and proclaiming him god of cult cinema

Where "good enough", just isn't.

And maybe I'm wrong, but, It seems like you're more concerned with making a quick buck from people with a passive interest in cinema than appealing to what most cult labels cater to: Hardcore Cult Film fans.
IMO this board isnt entirely "hardcore cinephiles" or "hardcore cult film fans." Many in these two groups would definitely greatly value being able to see a never before seen directors cut of a cult film, for instance, over better video quality.

This is more a blu ray disc enthusiast forum, hence the focus on compression, lossless soundtrack, slipcovers, booklets, etc. Which makes sene given the name of the site.

Which is why there are label insiders posting frequently and monitoring these forums. I suspect there are more than just a couple who identify themselves as Insiders officially - the rest pose as regular members. The truth is there's a potentially huge customer base here and the insiders know this. People here get excited about a release and may spread the word either directly or indirectly resulting in a snowball effect. Enthusiasm spreads. I honestly believe without these boards many of the smaller indy labels would not survive.

I agree 100%. Had to unfollow because of nausea, but I look at it from time to time and it does seem to be his main source of communication. He has wayyy more loyalist "Yes Men" on facebook than here.

So you trash talk the label with a perfect track record, then complain about others trash talking you? Grow up dude.

I totally agreed with Ruined opinion on the quality and I'm not saying your opinion is wrong because you are also entitled to feel the way you do. Everybody around here has there own nit picking way of interpreting what they feel is a good restoration and that can come in many different forms. But I can tell you one thing nobody schooled DF and CR and certainly not Fotokem's enormously qualified technicians.
No one actually likes the directors cut transfer except ruined, and he has some weird commitment to defending you. At some point, you have to realize that the problem lies with you, not us.

Guys, guys - I think we're all seeing Poe's Law in action here. What started out as a (probably ill advised) joke has blown way out of proportion. It was a harmless joke that everyone is taking way too seriously.

Not particularly directed at you but...

My point is that people are still going on and on about The Carrier Directors Cut picture quality, but at the end of the day it is still a very watchable directors cut of a cult film that was not previously available on disc. Its also a significantly superior cut of the film IMO (PQ aside).

As a cult film fan even if the theatrical cut (which has its own PQ issues) worked fine, I would still be watching the Directors Cut ongoing since its the better film and looks good enough even if flawed. As a cult film fan it would also be nice to have both cuts, but honestly if forced to pick between the directors cut as is and theatrical cut as is - id pick the directors cut since again its the better film and looks decent enough even if not ideal.

Now a blu ray disc enthusiast may reject the release as the theatrical cut is technically defective and also the directors cut has a digital edge to it. A cult film fan might have a different viewpoint, however, by looking past that at the superior content of the directors cut that was not previously available on disc.

Wasn't going to comment since I am worried about being threatened with violence, but what the heck.

Fully agree.

But not for the same reason... the average person would just be baffled it was getting a Blu-ray release at all and wouldn't even spend $5 on it.

If people who might be critical of a cult cinema classic release are critical... and they are in your target demographic... well, maybe it isn't the worst idea to pander to them? Knowing your market is a hallmark of any successful business venture.

That being said: looking forward to more releases in the future, thanks.

uhhhhh...in person any time pal. Like I said before Uwe Boll was man enough to step up, so put your boxing gloves where your mouth is. Free publicity right? Even if you do get the snot beat out of you. And you're statement was fact in your mind until 90% of the site called you out on it.
