Are 4K movies being downscaled from 1080p devices, or do they have their own 1080p streams? Not really a fan of HDR to SDR conversions.
Also i've noticed the XB1s looks better than the PS4 with Disney plus. Any reason for this? It's a bit sharper and you can notice how cleaner it is. One obvious tell is the bars on scope movies. The PS4 renders the edges softer, similar to what happens if a movie is lower resolution. The XB1s is sharper and defined. How it should be if a movie is native resolution. I remember that the XB1s has a automatic sharpning scaler. Could it be that? |

The XBox One/S/X HDMI input is 1080p only, 5.1 Surround only. It won’t accept or pass 4K, HDR/DV, or Atmos.

In other words, there are ways to say FU to Disney. You just have to be technology saavy. |

The series “Hey Vern, It’s Ernest” wasn’t produced by Disney, but DIC Entertainment, which was folded into Cookie Jar Entertainment, which was then bought up by WildBrain out of Canada. They are one of the largest holders of children’s entertainment in the world. They definitely should add the Ernest films to the service as soon as they can. Maybe they’re saving the Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures stuff for Hulu. Ernest Saves Christmas on DVD is non-anamorphic and looks bad. The other three relevant films: Ernest Goes to Camp, Ernest Goes to Jail, and Ernest Scared Stupid I’m glad to have on Blu-ray. There were a few later direct to video Ernest films that Disney had no involvement in (Goes to Africa, Goes to School, etc). I’ve never seen those and I act like they don’t exist. |

I think I've seen this around the web since yesterday (but haven't been able to get into this thread since mid-afternoon Tuesday).
But it appears there's no "Continue Watching" area. Some say there was such an area when the service first launched, but it was taken off at some point on Tuesday. So I noticed that when my wife & I went back to finish a movie last night that we started on Tuesday night. And we found that not only was there no "Continue Watching" section, but the app didn't save where we stopped the previous night, and when we FFWD, it buffered out, so we had to do the 15 sec jump until we found our spot. Little things like that will cause some customer dissatisfaction, since those are pretty standard features among streaming services. |

HD: The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (original aspect ratio, looks sharp with film grain and some dust on the images). Chip and Dale (cropped. Looks like some mild DNR). SD upscales (all original aspect ratios): X-Men, Gummi Bears, Spider-Man ‘94, Darkwing Duck |

I haven't done my free trail of Disney+ yet.
But, I did just pick up the new live action versions of Dumbo, Aladdin, and Lion King on Blu Ray from my local library. I'm glad my local library has an extensive Disney Blu Ray collection. I think they have most of what I don't. -Brian |

It did not detect Dolby Atmos (only Dolby Audio) when I used Disney+ while my Roku Ultra was directly connected to the TV. So currently the Disney+ app on Roku does not appear to be capable of sending Atmos from a Roku device through ARC. Hence why you can't use Disney+ on Roku TV to get Atmos (as Roku TVs can only use ARC for Atmos). The Disney+ app on Fire TV Stick 4K currenly only delivers Dolby Vision (when supported), and (unlike the Disney+ app on Roku) does not list Atmos on any of the films which Disney+ has Atmos available. It's a bit strange they wouldn't have Toy Story 4 on there when they have all three of them and even have the Forky and Ham's animated short which is associated to part 4.
I know it released recently but still. |

It's not on there due to its recent home media release last month, as there will still be a exclusive home media window for new films. It will be on Disney+ early next year.

They could have done that as a one time thing to help promote the new service, but there definitely should be a several month buffer between the home video release and the title showing up on the streaming service. I assume they still want people to buy the discs...
