After multiple attempts to contact them about it, I finally got the reply "we cannot confirm control of your package; contact your seller" and thought yup, that's it, it's lost. I placed an order with Rarewaves for the UK version, and that shipped a few days ago.

Imagine my surprise when last night at 9:30pm I got a notification on my phone from Amazon: "Delivered: Gamera The Complete Collection." I go out to my front door--nothing. Down to the building lobby--nothing. Look on Lasership's tracking: it says that the package was "loaded onto truck" at 8:29pm and "delivered: left at front door" at 8:30pm. Lasership's facility is in NJ; I'm in NYC. Sure, Jan.

God, what a joke this release is.
Arrow is to blame for the carrier’s problems?

This release isn’t a joke to me because I got mine, complete, intact, and with all the right discs & printed materials.

The "joke" i was referring to was how messy the release was overall, everything from the release date change (likely) screwing up some preorders and the scramble by everyone to try and get a copy and so on and so forth.

As to your second point, hmm, that's interesting, wonder why you'd feel that way

God, what a joke this release is.
I work in the online auctions field, and our location ships out between 100 and 200 packages a day. For the past several months, because of the heavy increase in package shipments related to COVID, tracking information has become WAY less reliable than it used to be, from ALL the major carriers. Your package had scans that were supposed to have been done at separate times, performed at the same time. Unfortunately, there's nothing too unusual about that at the present time. Obviously, the fact that it wasn't left at your address is the significant issue. It sounds like your package was mis-routed somewhere along the way, and if it was delivered, it was left at the wrong location.

My employer is experiencing higher than normal delivery problems, either lost or damaged packages. I'm not sure the exact percentage, but it's probably affected about one out of every 750 or so packages we're sending. It just sucks when it happens to you! And it really sucks for us when it happens to a rare and/or expensive item that we took extra precautions with before sending out.

In any event, it has nothing to do with Arrow, only with the state of package delivery at this time, which is a challenge for every carrier. I'm not excusing it; carriers need to do a better job. But the people working at these companies are being stretched thinner than ever. And the fact that leadership at the USPS has chosen now to enact aggressive measures meant to control costs has just exacerbated the problem, which is having a domino effect on the other carriers.

I got lost in the shuffle three times. Pre-order cancelled. Item not available on another. Finally, waiting for stock. That's where I'm at now, which is a wing and a prayer. I'm extremely pissed off that here in North America, at least in my case (and others have mentioned), that our release was, "if you're pre-ordering this, cross your fingers and toes". Hell, that would have been more of an accurate statement, than, "your item is awaiting release date".

Now, you've got the flea-bay scumbags that have this listed for $600+, that should have their "stores" shut down. Both Amazon and ebay closed many accounts during the CV-19 spread, when sellers were whoring out hand sanitizer, wipes, gloves, masks, etc. I don't see why this doesn't apply to items like this. The studios/owners/third-party/licensed distributors should be the ones to get behind a program like this.

For now, all I have left, is that wing and a prayer.

They don't have any. I got that same email this morning and when you click on add to cart a pop up says "product not found". I tried purchasing a copy this morning 17 minutes after the email was sent so If they got copies they sold really fast.

Should be getting this set in the mail soon. I'm going in completely blind. Should I watch these subtitled or dubbed? I assume subtitled, but figure I'd ask.

Watch them dubbed. That's the side of presentation where most of the effort in this release went into after all.

Subtitled, and when you get to Vs Viras since it included 3 cuts, I’d specifically go with the theatrical version. The English versions are definitely worth checking out as well at some point, especially when the movie itself is an alternate cut.

I really dig the Sandy Frank dub for GAMERA (1965). Just watched it with that dub for the first time in over twenty years, since the last time I spun up the old Celebrity Home Video VHS. So fun. And I love that it leaves the voices of the original American “actors” intact, which makes the voice dub cast seem like they were trained by Sanford Meisner.

I always liked Gamera, yet never saw his films. He always looked and sounded cool. And was interested in this set solely from a historical viewpoint aside from those Heisei films. I've been wanting to see those since forever cuz they looked badass.

Liked the first Gamera. That one was fine.

Holy hell is everything between the first film and the Heisei series horrible. Super Monster is the worst culprit. Those Showa sequels are just embarrassing. The foes are the worst thing. I don't know how Gamera survived that shit.

The commentary on Super Monster is damn near brutal when that dude talks about the film. Deservedly so. But I didn't expect it. hahaha.

I'm excitedly starting on the Heisei series. Man, i'm so pumped.

No, I don't. It shouldn't matter what the item(s) are. If the same principle for all, is to hoard as much as possible, not just for personal use, but only to make a profit from, then, in my opinion, that's a problem. Something like Ticketmaster and Live Nation, are no different.

Here in Cleveland the local fright host, The Ghoul (he picked up the mantle from Ghoulardi) would show the Gamera films a lot and always referred to him as the “Turtle with the rockets in his pockets”.

Lol, he pretty much goofed on the whole movie. The guy threw some serious shade. I’m sure there are fans of this movie, but I enjoyed the movie more with the commentary on then off
