Didn't Disney+ offer a price cut gimmick if people committed early (prior to the launch) for their service?

An introductory offer to join isn't the same as cutting prices.

Getting people to commit to 3 years of service. is not equal to a 50% price cut.
Neither is a bundle package with two other services.

They are now offering Dune and The Matrix for 15 dollars. That is nuts.

Must be directly correlated to the sale. Wouldn't they focus more on the AT&T subscribers getting this for free?

This was a result of them dropping Amazon and Apple.

Annoying your customers before your biggest movies of the year, seems like a pretty bad idea.

It's another "knee-jerk" reaction from WM.

If there was ever a text book example of what not to do as a streaming service, HBO Max is it. From trying to launch without Roku and Amazon Fire Stick, to having to offer an AVOD cheaper version because your service is deemed too expensive, aborting 2021 expansion plans into Europe and going into Latin America instead, to now losing 5 million subs from Amazon Channels.

OH . . . let's not forget the up and coming merger with Discovery+. A little streamer merges with a big streamer and the little streamer is put in charge.

Inspector Clouseau would do a better job of running that place

So, they gave up a crap ton of potential theatrical revenue this year in an effort to make Max an instant hit, and it backfired. Lol

It all started prior to the actual launch of HBO Max. HBO is a Pay-TV premium channel add-on. And because it was global, it came in different flavors: HBO Go, HBO Now and of course HBO.

Add HBO Max and you have 4 different flavors with only one being an SVOD: HBO Max.
