Amazon is allowing you to add 1000 in your cart and checkout. They are obviously overselling. Hope it does not get cancelled or infinite backorder.. Out of the non-US standard releases, which country would be the cheapest to order from if being shipped to the US?

Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't typically prescribe to the "first come, first served" model. I don't think there any rhyme or reason to their fulfillment process.

I checked the updated HD version I have on iTunes, and I don't see any differences in the de-aging effects, even though they said there would be touch-ups. I don't know what's going on.

This is a long thread, so forgive me if this has been brought up already. On the Digital Bits website, it states that their sources are telling them that some of the early "de-aging" VFX in Tron Legacy have been redone for modern standards. I'm assuming they are talking about the young version of Jeff Bridges.
So, is Disney pulling a George Lucas on this movie? Here's the link: https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/b...-graham-greene |

Nobody knows yet. I don’t think the new version is available anywhere yet?
I just checked Apple TV based on the comment above and it looks the same to me but maybe my account has an issue. Vudu/FAH and MA are the same, and MA is the non-IMAX version while Vudu is IMAX ratio shifts, I assume both will be updated with the 4K. I’m really curious how the DV will look with all the neon. |

In terms of "usage" of HDR as a format, I don't really care much when a release is reserved or SDR-in-HDR in terms of brightness levels, especially if it has wide color content that would be otherwise a compatibility nightmare if it was encoded as SDR.2020, and depending on the roots of what's being presented. Obviously heavily digital stuff from the 00s/10s, unless the Blu-ray/DVD grade was super blown out to begin with due to trends of the time and those highlights would've been recovered in a competent regrade anyway, will almost always lean more towards SDR than HDR. Film based content is tricky, since different movies, stocks, aesthetics, materials, etc will call for different grading styles, and in that case I usually only believe the grade being "SDR-in-HDR" is a bad thing when it's something like the Cameron 4Ks, which are patently just reused old Blu-ray masters, including near identical dynamic range to the Blu-ray, just cranked up to 203 nits paper white to just barely meet a "pleasing" brightness level to most people. Low-nit grades can still offer advantages like WCG and improvements in contrast, highlight detail, gradients, black levels, etc thanks to being 10/12-bit in nature, and I fully believe that can be the case with Tron Legacy. I'm probably talking out my ass but it's generally how I view this whole shtick about "dim HDR" movies (and I didn't even get to my rant about most people having their SDR brightness cranked up way too high!).

Maverick looks outstanding on UHD, if that's "reserved HDR grade" then I want every movie to have such reserved grade.

Also, I absolutely love the gaslighting from Bill Hunt as to why Disnee won't use UHD100 discs: it's so they can put more stock of both Trons on the shelves for everyone to enjoy! Which is of coursh why there's been no problem with pre-orders whatsoever. What? Oh Legacy is over 2 hours long and has a bunch of audio tracks on there, the crisp digital acquisition should help with the compression but it's a shame they're being so cheap. It's weird that Sony aren't continually putting their UHDs onto double-deckers just to make sure stock will be available, even their shitty MOD discs are still on UHD100. Again this in not a wide realease, but only a couple target countries.
So what's the need for a big stock if they aim for small market? Or is it the "Steelbook high price" startegie... Quote:

The deepfake is betterer but because its movement and expression is based on the original animation it still looks very stiff to me. Needs doing from scratch with a human reference.

It'll be interesting to see how soon preorders actually start shipping. Theoretically, it should be later this week if the release date is the 16th.

awww yes yes in a way that relates to the theory of a subject or area of study rather than its practical application.
