Since I don't have a true 5.1 or 7.1 audio receiver with HDMI but I do get DTS, I would have to say that one of the best audio I have is Saving Private Ryan. Especially the opening 25min or so the battle scene is mind blowing in my system I do have. TDKR comes in a close second.

You bassaholics out there need to get four subwoofers in your setups.

If you think all those movies with great lossless audio soundtracks on BD sound good now,
just wait till you upgrade to a quad subwoofer setup.

To get the most out of those subs make sure you get a receiver, with
Audyssey
MultEQ XT32 and Sub EQ HT calibration.

Hear and "feel" what you've been missing on all those awesome soundtracks.

If I had the space I'd go with four Ultras! Unfortunately in my current room I'd have to make do with two.

Back on topic, I thought TDKR's AQ was superb.

Yep! I am running 4 Ultras (3 PB13s and a 12/2) along with dual buttkickers and a 5 star bass film is........................

Star Trek 2009 is still one of my absolute overall favorite audio tracks on blu...........this track is as close to movie audio perfection as it gets for my money.

I'm gonna take an entirely different direction on this and say my favorite sounding blu-ray is Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. The ambient sounds and beautifully designed audio is so perfectly appealing for the audience.

Good Lord, 4 Ultras!?!? I've got one and it's pretty crazy even in my big living room; I can't even imagine running 4 at once!

I really do want to add a 2nd one though!

Anybody with thoughts on BRAVE from Disney/Pixar? I thought it was a solid 5/5. An amazing track!

I have to say Finding Nemo's 7.1 track is pretty sweet. Fish and water sounds all around you.

Brave's TrueHD track is reference!

Just to let people know, Brave does not have a separate 5.1 TrueHD track. Even though its listed on the back and in the main menu, if selected, the 7.1 track is played back. The TrueHD track as usual features an embedded 5.1 lossy DD track @ 640kbps. A 2.0 track is also available @ 320kbps.

I think it's a case where the mlp file on Brave folds down to a true 5.1 track?

My receiver was reading 8 channels even with the so called 5.1 track selected from the menu (I am not bitstreaming). Played it back on my PC, and no sign of a TrueHD 5.1 track. Just the 7.1 track.

Maybe someone else can also confirm.

Just got a surround sound system this christmas (Sony BDVN790W) and am lining up Brave, Finding Nemo, Saving Private Ryan, The Avengers, and Star Trek (2009)... thought I'd give this thread a bump to see if there are any other recent essential releases for a surround sound newbie.

Thanks, I already own Prometheus and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol so will definitely check them out. The new system is also 3D compatible so I need to grab some glasses and work Prometheus pop from the screen. I'll probably wait till Dark Knight Rises drops in price; the way those discs are stacked up everywhere I'm sure they must have way over shot demand.

Completely agree with this statement. ST '09 is phenomenal in the audio department, errr, and the PQ department as well.

It's one of the very best BD editions out there!
That's how they are supposed to be done!
