Thank you for your response, and I tried a different out put and is OK. I have my cable/box connected to my Oppo 203, and form the Oppo the sound goes to the receiver with a different cable, so I can hear TV thru my receiver, without problems. This particular connection is the ARC.

New Denon owner here. Just bought the 2500. Not set up fully as I don't have any Atmos speakers yet but am impressed.
Upgrading from a Marantz 1605. I didn't think I had the room for a full size AVR but it's actually not as deep as the 1605, so it fits better once I adjusted the shelf to allow for increased height. I was going to go with a Marantz 1609 but the Denon has better reviews and is cheaper as a bonus. I got mine for £450 which feels like a bargain. |

I'm a little confused here. The X2500H is supposed to have Virtual X, but all I can see is Neural X as an option which strips out any Atmos data if I select it on Atmos titles anyway.
Maybe I'm also misunderstanding what Virtual X does. I had been hoping I could use it to open up my 5.1.2 setup to give the illusion of more channels to the rear. It's also frequently dropping video momentarily on 4K discs when it switches between the menu and the film, so I loose picture for the first couple of seconds. Annoying. Are there any solutions? |

I've browsed the online manual, and it seems Virtual X isn't quite what I thought it was. For one, I can't see it as an option right now because it won't work with any Dolby content. I'm totally new to Atmos or DTS X so I'm having to learn as I go along. For example, I was mourning the lack of Pro Logic 2, and wondering why Denon had only put old Dolby Surround processing into the X2500H. Turns out Dolby Surround is now the umbrella name for the new processing that does everything from Dolby. |

Hmm, latest firmware update has left ARC with limited features. No longer can I use the TV volume control to change the volume and the TV no longer turns the receiver on.

I'm guessing this is the right thread for me to use for this issue, but by all means move it if I'm in the wrong place.
I've owned an X2500H for a few months now, and one bug bear is still driving me slightly mad, which is that when I switch on my Apple TV using the Apple TV remote, the receiver and television power up, but the audio still comes from the television speakers and not the HC speakers. This translates that I then have to power off the receiver and power it on again immediately afterwards in order for the audio to come from the HC speakers, which makes no sense to me, and leaves me thinking that I've overlooked a setting or something. Is there anybody here that has had a similar experience, and if so how did you remedy it? |

Yep. Have you ever updated your receiver and if so, you probably already have the Dolby Vision firmware installed.

Also, will Dolby Vision pass-through work also with Dolby Vision-ready streaming device like Chromecast Ultra, or just with BD player? |

Yes, if the Chromecast Ulta is currently upgraded to Dolby Vision compatibility, and it's connected to the receiver, it can be done.
