Damn Diesel the more and more I see your opinion on films shows how much we disagree on them lol. Seven Pounds was great! As for that Foggy quote even he couldnt respond back to me because he knew it was a silly statement. Got Em!!

Again, it appears as though you're assessing a thelogical/spiritual interpretation within a literal/rational context.
I would have to first SEE the theological/spiritual components in order to translate them in a literal interpretation. What I SAW was a literal story. What I DIDNT see were all the theological messages. What I CAN see are a few coincidences that COULD be interpreted as symbolism or metaphor. BUT, they are so convoluted and UNCLEAR and poorly defined, that I believe its a STRETCH to arrive at the conclusion that it WAS the directors intent. In other words, I see it as VIEWERS INTENT to connect dots that werent meant to be connected.

Childhood molestation = low self image and NEED for approval and love. And sometimes it manifests itself into a very controlling individual....cotrolling through sex. Hmmm.

Exactly. We have to remember that athiests dont believe in satan. Athiests find satans existence as unrealistic and unbelievable as gods. If Von Trier is an athiest and an Antimisogynist, he wouldnt make a film about a woman being the antichrist (devil) since both go against his beliefs. If Von Trier is catholic, the movie (if viewed throught the theological lens) would be slanderous of his own beliefs, and that would make no sense either. So, is he a confused athiest, or a catholic trying to shame his own religions belief system, or is the movie an artsy drama about a very troubled woman and her therapist husband?

I cant answer that since I didnt think it was a theological/spitiual themed film. Remember, athiests arent anti-god and dont worship satan, they dont even believe in satan. Athiests simply believe the entire story is fiction.

Impossible. We get what we get. Some folks pay millions of dollars for an Andy Warhol painting, while some folks barf when they see his work.
If you are not familiar with it already, this film is about the affair between fashion designer Coco Chanel and legendary composer Igor Stravinsky shortly after her husband's death. Coco & Igor bursts with style, contrast, mesmerizingly patterned sets, beautiful costume design, and great lighting. I cannot stress enough the attention to detail given to the set in particular... it really speaks a language of its own. From grand rooms to discretely matching rugs to the design on Igor's tie to isolated colors around his wife Katarina. Sometimes the actors are literally shoved to the edge of the frame to take it all in (example:

Mads Mikkelson gives a brilliant and subtle performance as Igor and Coco Chanel was an excellent cast, though Igor's character was much more fascinating than Chanel's in general.The editing is also quite good (an abrupt change to a sex scene and another sequence at the dinner table come to mind). It moves along at a snail's pace, almost as if forcing you to endure the brief affair and sink into the cinematography. I checked the time a few times and paused it once, so it earns a 4/10 on my boring meter (which is not sophisticated enough to be scaled out of 5 ). It runs a bit too long, but I loved how effectively it captured the emotional tension between the two. You can see the constraint in their faces while they are forced to remain civil and secretive until it erupts into so much passion within the sex scenes. The score is amazing. Subtle when it needs to be and powerful when necessary.
Bottom line, if you ever want to watch a visually enthralling film, this should be it, or at least one of them. Emotional involvement might not be there for some, but this is a captivating film nonetheless. Worth a watch for the visuals alone.

I love films with all that attention to detail. The sets, the hair style, the clothes. My soft spot is the 1940s. The clothes for both men and women were so cool. And everyone wore hats.
I only have Chronicles as I don't watch Pitch Black very often so I never bought it.At least a few of the members of this thread have it and might have heard it though.

If a movie doesn't have enough replay value for me I don't buy it.
I watch Pitch Black less than once a year (I think I've seen it once in the last 2.5-3 and hardly ever feel the urge to want to watch it), so buying it is pointless for me, I'll stick with my HD DVR'd airing
Compare that, for instance, to Chronicles of Riddick. I've watched that one probably 7 times in the last two years.
Can't quite beat the master (not that I plan to ).
At this stage, it looks like it's too late to turn back on the pre-order (the suitcase edition sold out at WB Shop. I suppose I don't have to get that version, but I feel this is an opportunity I might regret missing ). Besides, what's the worst that could happen? I get stuck with a movie I don't like? Meh, it's happened before (check out the movies in my collection marked as "For Review" ).
At the worst, I expect "Inception" to be like "Avatar." Even if I'm dissapointed with the story for whatever reason, the entertainment and cinematic quality look phenomenal. And if it's anything like "The Matrix," I'll probably love it for sure (at least aesthetically).
At least I hope. I've been avoiding the hype; aside from a few commercials and a few reviews, I hardly know a darn thing about this movie
