I mean there's some slips from other labels I don't care for. VS's From Beyond gives me a headache for example, but at least a skilled effort went into that. Don't remember the exact timeline of your releases to pinpoint when it started getting bad, but around Hard Rock Nightmare. I'm not going to say I'm a great artist of drawing. My skills are filmmaking, video editing, coding, and some other stuff. I'm just comparing you to other small labels. If you yourself can't make good art or find someone that can, why not just use some alternate art instead like I mentioned before? I do know some actual good artists online and IRL, maybe I'll get a hold of them and see if they'll be willing to send you some examples.
I'm as big a fan as you guys are of these releases. I think the designer of THE BLACK GESTAPO slip would take exception but I personally think it looks extremely cool in person. A lot of factors go into these slips that you might not expect. It's not as easy as it looks. We have both the BLACK GESTAPO and FINAL EXAM releases on display at the Dark Force headquarters and they both look amazing. We've taken some pretty cool pics of them for social media. Custom slip design can be very very tricky and quite a few come out not as expected. These glossy ones we've been doing on heavy card stock look GREAT on display in person and we've seen hundreds if not thousands of slips around here. Most of them aren't that great. Been very happy with what we have achieved with them. The embossed ones that glow in the dark are unbelievable but very difficult and costly to produce. But they have definitely been a hit with the fans.

Like I said, you've done some good ones in the past. These just seem lazy, no matter how glossy they are. These new ones are not up to the standards of your previous ones. Glow in the dark ones where cool and unique. Some of the other designs in the past where neat. Seriously I know talented artists that can do much better than cut out a design and post it on plain white glossy card stock. One of the people I know did my profile picture you see here for instance. She didn't do it for my profile here, it's a picture she designed based on a picture of me and an old dog of mine. Looks a lot better in full, I cropped it for this forum. Lost contact with her long ago, nothing really bad happened, just lost contact. I can try and reconnect with her and see if she'd be interested in sending you some examples. She has different styles. I know others as well, if she can't be contacted. Been meaning to get in contact with her anyway to help me with some of my game stuff I'm working on. I'm serious about this. Let me know if you're interested.

Don't get too offended by what I say. Consider it constructive criticism.

Yeah I saw that too. Made me have a good laugh. Super lazy. Seems like most steelbook art sucks anyway. Like it's some kind of curse or something. There have been exceptions. Arrow's Robocop steelbook was a thing of beauty for example. The Friday the 13th ones are cool, with the poster art, but I don't buy them because it's just the same old discs.

I don't know you at all, but I have to say this. I respected your decision to boycott Dark Force, whether I agreed or not. You took a stance and seemed to be committed. Now, you are ready to help Dave out? Which is it?

I had the same question, I thought I remembered that and wondered why he would even be in this thread at all but I wasn't sure if I was mistaken.

There are a lot of members that seem to dislike particular labels yet continually post on their threads. I've never understood this. I don't click on threads I'm not interested in.

I'm sorry, but this is just getting embarrassing to read now.

Not as embarrassing as being for laziness. I'm offering to give the man access to good artists. They're talented but not big time, so it's not like they'll drain a bank account. If he wants to take me up on the offer, he can. If not, that's on him. His choice. Just giving him options. Something better than a simple cut out on a white backround for instance. I'm not a big slip person personally, unless it's really stand out to me. He made some really cool ones in the past. Don't have to be glow in the dark or have any gimmicks. Just some good art on a decent quality slipcover. Even suggested using a movie's alternate art, if legal and avaliable to do so.

It's his business and he can do what he wants with it, but I'm just giving constructive criticism. He can definitely do better and has done better in the past.

Blood Beach? Awesome flick. Seriously needs a blu ray. I suspect the ocn is toast. The existing dvds are pretty piss-poor.

Really excited about the coming release of Rivals. I’ll be all over that the day it goes ‘live’ on Facebook or whatever. Can’t wait to find out what the special features are. Has Scott Jacoby ever appeared in any extra features for his films?

Got Black Gestapo in today and gave it a watch a little while ago. Great flick! Dave mentioned it was brutal, and I do agree with that. It was nuts! The 4k looks really great. Thinking about giving it another watch with the commentary on~I played a little and it was good to hear Bill's voice on there

I think it's wonderfully depraved, and one shouldn't expect less. I have the blu and I'm looking forward to picking this one up soon.
