So with season six now concluded what did everyone think? Overall I enjoyed the season but didn't think the quality was anyone close to the first three seasons. They've just lost too many cast members and I didn't think Paget Brewster or David Keith brought much to the show. There were certainly some enjoyable episodes but it's just not the same show anymore.

I would be surprised if the show returns. Ken Jeong and Gillian Jacobs both have new shows so they'd only be available sparingly at best, and the show didn't create a lot of buzz for Yahoo. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if they wrapped the show up with a movie on Yahoo, but I'd be surprised if yesterday's episode wasn't the final episode.

Thought the finale was hilarious and poignant and really brought the series to a satisfying end, so I'm really hoping they only do a movie for a final-final ending (bringing back Troy and Shirley of course) rather than attempting season seven. I really like having actual closure with my shows, and this finale was perfect for that.

As for the season overall, I was always entertained and laughing, but it also felt kind of aimless, like none of the episodes really connected much (though when I think back, season 3 might've really been the only season to do that since Harmon was so into The Wire at that point). That's aside from the throughline about Jeff feeling like he's being left behind which was touched on a couple separate times and was a really good theme for this season leading into that finale.

They still get advertiser dollars. Just like network programs are "free".

Stop trying to rationalize piracy.
Oh, come on. I can see being a pirate and I can see being against piracy. But I don't buy any "it's okay to pirate Netflix but not yahoo" argument. Netflix isn't the best, but I don't see how they're so terrible that they morally absolve piracy from them. It's not like pirating from the Evil Empire, where every mp4 liberated from the system is a strike for freedom. Maybe you need to stop rationalizing piracy.

Anyway, not to be a total derail...

I checked out some of the yahoo season because I was there anyway checking out their sci-fi sitcom with Joel Robinson. I had tried some Community before, I guess because of the online hype its gotten, but never watched it regularly. I remember some funny bits, like a hidden trampoline behind the school or them kidnapping Malcolm McDowell on Christmas. But I felt I was sifting through too much eye-roll inducing sitcom cheese to get to the good bits. And when Chevy Chase left, they should've just closed up shop.

But still, I checked out some of season 6, and again, there were good and interesting bits. Shirley and Chevy Chase were huge losses, but Keith David was really fun. They had a great little Gremlins parody in there somewhere. But some of it was really bad, too; like far below the standards I think they ever would've let the show go on NBC. I started watching the final episode but gave up on it after 10 or so minutes - did they keep up that "cut to it" gimmick all the way to the end?

I can see why people like the show, though; it has clever moments. But I think they should've left it cancelled the first time they did it (was it season 3? or 4?), and just let the fans remember a show they thought was really great and dredge it along like this. I bet you could take all the best bits of the whole series, rewrite the stories so all those moments are strung together, and have one really terrific season of a great show.

Watching this on Hulu and loving it so far, gotta love how much I've seen since...2013 through streaming. This is 6 seasons right? I could probably barrel through that pretty quickly.

Yeah, but not surprising to me. I watched a few shows there including Community, and was surprised that there were never any advertisements of any kind except for other Yahoo shows. I have no idea how they monetized any of it or if they even tried.

Default Fifth Season (DVD)

While rewatching with commentary, I'm reminded that the episodes on my copy of Community - The Fifth Season are very dark. Everything, every scene.

I have to turn up my TV a notch to make it look normal. If I watch during the day, I have to go up two settings, maybe even "torch mode". The DVDs were bought brand new at Best Buy so it should be a legitimate version.

Anybody else have this problem?

I have the DVD but I haven't actually watched it yet. However, I remember watching the broadcast and watching the episodes on Hulu, and I remember the picture being notably darker than the previous seasons. (And I recall that carrying over to season 6 as well.) I don't think it's an issue with the DVDs, though I can't say for sure.

I thought the final season was brilliant. Its conclusion made me even sadder, because Paget Brewster and Keith David were great additions to the cast.

Let's hope we get the movie sooner, rather than later.

Fun things you notice going back

In spanish 101 chang says theres a test "friday manana" (newish phone not sure how to do accent marks)

A certified spanish teacher surely would know that means "tomorrow " not morning if I would

Advanced intro to finality is jeffs fantasy? So abed laid out the entire state of the darkest timeline for him in detail and he actually listened?

In season 4 when the roomis grabbed from under the group and they're trying new ones we see a gas pipe burst (though it had some weird episodes I think the hates a bit overblown personally but...)

Also jeff and chang mention him playing keytar in season 1

Its a crime how underrated this show was and callous how his new show shamelessly tried to rip it off at least in the pilot i stopped watching after it but tell me the vibe wasn't there when they showed mchale to his office

Where has this show been all my life? I'm on Season 2 episode 20 right now, and I don't see myself slowing down. This show is seriously good, especially since I may or may not have spent too much time at more than one Community Colleges back in the day. The writing is brilliant IMO and very versatile
