Trilogy Of Terror (1975) 1/2 If you grew up in the 70's, that creepy little doll is seared indelibly into your brain. Of course, the third segment is great and why the film is remembered, but it's all enjoyable. The first story is fairly good, the second is pretty obvious. What I had forgotten - and what is surprising for 70's TV - is how sleazy some of it is! Subtle (and some not so subtle) references to date rape, masochism and gang rape. The entire first story makes you squirm in this in these days of Cosby and the #MeToo movement.

The doll does return in the sequel made two decades later. While not familiar with the first film, the sequel was pretty entertaining as I remembered it.

Never seen any of the TV show so I'm judging this on its own merits. Neat idea with merely okay execution. There were a few times you really felt the Whedon presence in the dialogue etc but at most times it felt really unfocused and truncated like they never knew where to go with it really. The motivations and explanations for both Buffy and Lothos were unclear and everything felt meandering because of it. The cast was really good and I could see the potential but it didn't land for me. Overall, a bit of a mixed bag. Curious about the TV show now though.

Never seen any of the TV show so I'm judging this on its own merits. Neat idea with merely okay execution. There were a few times you really felt the Whedon presence in the dialogue etc but at most times it felt really unfocused and truncated like they never knew where to go with it really. The motivations and explanations for both Buffy and Lothos were unclear and everything felt meandering because of it. The cast was really good and I could see the potential but it didn't land for me. Overall, a bit of a mixed bag. Curious about the TV show now though.

My brothers and sisters watched that movie constantly when it ran regularly on HBO. The TV show we all were into in its early seasons but jumped ship mid though its run. The last episode I can remember watching was the Hush episode.

House (1986) Entertaining blend of horror and humor. It's William Katt's film all the way, and he's terrific.

House of the Devil (vhs version)
Solid movie. Unique experience watching the vhs with tracking lines and fuzzy audio. My girlfriend was casually watching while on her phone and when Greta Gerwig showed up she said "Wait? What? What year was this made?"
She totally thought it was made in the 80's.

An elevator in an Amsterdam high-rise gains sentience and starts killing people. That's about as dumb a concept for an inanimate object as a murderer this side of Death Bed: The Bed That Eats. Dull, plodding and unintentionally amusing, the most memorable thing about this clunker is the hilarious tagline for the U.S. release, "Use the stairs...use the stairs...for God's sake, use the stairs!"

Halloween (1978) - Just returned from watching this bad boy in the theater. it was a lot of fun seeing it on the big screen. Hearing laughs when The Shape appears in the door wearing the ghost sheet and glasses, laughter / applause when he sits up after the closet scene, and more applause after Loomis looks out the window and he's gone was extremely enjoyable. I'll be seeing the new sequel at the same time in the same theater tomorrow, can't wait!!!!

Not as great as the original Night Stalker, but quite entertaining nevertheless with a terrific performance by Darren McGavin, a solid supporting cast, and snappy dialogue. Just lots of fun overall and Kino's recent blu ray is a marvel to look at--- it's never looked this vibrant and clear in the past!
