In Ep 8 we saw the birthing sequence, we learned how Wanda birthed the new vision. If she had birthed Pietro, wouldn't we have seen that? And as of now Wanda has NOT broken open the multiverse. So where did she pull Fietro from? As of what is shown till Ep 8, multiverse has not been created. And since Fietro's appearance predates Ep 8, he can't be from another universe. Agatha revealed he's not actually Pietro he's a fake. So I think with the available information we can deduce that he's probably an ordinary Westview resident. Again, they might provide more info in Ep 9, but as of now, the multiverse has not been created. So he can't be from another universe. |

Throughout the episode we see Wanda’s experience of trauma including the death of her parents in Sokovia, imprisonment and death of her brother. In all her moments moments of trauma the one constant that brought her an element of comfort was sitcoms.
Finally due to being unable to bury Vision and experience grief, she created a place where she can live out an alternate reality with Vision away from the trauma of the real world based on the sitcoms she turned to during the moments of trauma in her life. So naturally the sitcoms and circumstances in which she watched those sitcoms are pretty crucial to the format of the show. Watching tv during imprisonment, and following the death of Pietro is fair enough. But in terms of where it all began, watching DVDs with her family in Sokovia, that’s where you have to start making excuses for the show. Essentially because neither The Dick Van Dyke Show box set nor Malcolm in the Middle DVD box sets we see in in the episode were available in 1999 (the first episode of Malcom in the Middle didn’t even air until 2000!). Narratively that’s problematic because these sitcoms, and her “relationship” with them greatly inform the format of the show. In any case, in terms of making allowances or excuses, I guess it can be explained away by, say, in the MCU shows were released earlier than in the real world, or considering Sokovia isn’t real anyway who cares. It’s just something that certainly took me out of the moment. Why have box sets of sitcoms that exist in the real world and show them to exist in the show at a time prior to their actual release, considering Wanda watching those sitcoms will have such a big impact on the format of the show? Of course the other possibility is that the memories we saw weren’t actually real, though with only one more episode to go I think it’s probably too late in the day for that additional twist. . *SPOILER ALERT*
Okay, am I the only one who thinks that maybe the Scarlet Witch "gave" Wanda her powers a la Flash giving his past self the power? I mean they showed Wanda watching the mind stone and then in the explosion of light the Scarlet Witch (costume and all) appears before her. Is this a future Wanda or a multiverse Wanda giving young Wanda her powers? And on the same note, did Pietro see Quicksilver when exposed to the stone? Or did Scarlet Witch make him an enhanced? If it's the latter, makes sense that Westview Pietro has powers (making him the new Quicksilver once the hex is over?). So many questions... |

The most recent show in the suitcase is Malcolm in the Middle, which came out on DVD in 2002. No idea when this episode is meant to take place, but if any time after 2002 is plausible, then there's nothing wrong?

See post #1462 above. The Sokovia flashback takes place in 1999.

That doesn't bother me, since it can just be unreliable memories, or Agatha messing with her, or Wanda just being nostalgic.
Honestly, the whole thing could be Agatha planting memories and making Wanda think she has more control over her powers *shrug* |

The thing is this whole series have been full of either hints or red herrings (I.e. Wonderman in the background in one of the windows).
I think people have their hopes set high that we are going to see Nightmare or Mephisto or a “cameo” (I.e. not a big bad or anyone driving the plot) like Magneto or someone. I think if the bads are only Agatha from the supernatural side of things and Hayward as the military dude trying to make things right but not a secret bad dude in disguise, I think we will have another Last Jedi on our hands. Like someone else said, hopefully they can stick the landing . . . |
