The way to find out is to check the number of the last firmware update that been downloaded onto your receiver, to see which version it is, and if it was for Dolby Vision. If the Dolby Vision firmware have not been downloaded, then you'll have to connect your Chromecast direct to the TV for Dolby Vision.

An update on this. The old TV was a LG UH850V. Upgraded last week to a B8.

ARC is still being frustratingly flaky after the update, now on different TVs so I cannot blame those. No volume control via ARC, no power on via ARC and it randomly doesn't work full stop. Any ideas?

Does anyone know what speaker config settings I should have in Denon? It gives me an option between large and small. They are "small" speakers but on the Denon site it says can inadequately play low bass frequencies where as large can adequately play. I mean my speakers aren't some cheap knock off brands and they're not $400+ each either but I am not sure as to what the true settings should be. My center speaker is a normal horizontal speaker that is bigger than the others but other than that they are all the same size. I do have dolby Atmos speakers configured too. Right now as default the front speakers are set as "large", the center is set as small, surround is small, and dolby is small. Should I set the front to small too or the center to large as the speaker size is a little bigger? Very confused on this and was just researching this as I want to make sure I get the best possible sound.

I just set them all to small and hopefully that is the correct setting. I adjusted the lengths of the speakers too by measuring them.

I will check my current firmware and let you know. What is the serial number of new firmware?

Yes, from what I've read small is almost always the correct setting.

However, my Focal Sib Evos certainly knock out a fair bit of bass, when in another room I often think the sub has been turned up too far from all the booming, turns out it was just the speakers! So I don't think large will have any negative effect when the setup has good quality speakers. I believe it's all to do with sending the appropriate amount of bass to the LFE channel for speakers that don't have as good bass response and "small" is the generic safe choice.

Honestly, I think these Focal's are made with TARDIS technology. I don't know how they can shove so much oomph into such a small speaker.

Will it always say on the receiver what audio format is being used. Most of the time it just says multi channel stereo.

If it says multichannel , you are sending you receiver a signal that is already decoded. Your Blu-ray player or whatever device is decoding not your receiver.

Got a shock while watching a disc last night, my receiver suddenly shut itself down and installed an update without notification. Not supposed to do that, is it?

Nope shouldn't do that.

It's supposed to update in standby mode if you have auto update turned on.

If you have auto update off then it shouldn't update at all until you tell it to.

Any of you know what's the difference between Denon reading 'DTS H MSTR' and 'DTS Surround'?

If you did not know which was which, would you be able to tell the difference on the same surround sound system?

My question still stands. Can your ears tell the difference?

the answer is a question, can your ears tell the difference. don't worry about anyone else's ears, since we don't know what each other hears.

I mean, where are you going with this Rock?

DTS Surround on my Denon sounds just as good as DTS MSTR, but I want to know if it's just me
