With the XPA-5 powering the main channels, your receiver shouldn't have a problem powering the miscellaneous channels.

RECOMMENDED AMP HOOK-UP

RCA from XPA-5 CH1 to Onkyo White RCA pre out.
RCA from XPA-5 CH2 to Onkyo Blue RCA pre out.
RCA from XPA-5 CH3 to Onkyo Green RCA pre out.
RCA from XPA-5 CH4 to Onkyo Gray RCA pre out.
RCA from XPA-5 CH5 to Onkyo Red RCA pre out.

Then,

XPA-5 CH1 speaker wire to FRONT Left speaker.
XPA-5 CH2 speaker wire to SURR Left speaker.
XPA-5 CH3 speaker wire to CENTER speaker.
XPA-5 CH4 speaker wire to SURR Right speaker.
XPA-5 CH5 speaker wire to FRONT Right speaker.
The FRONT HIGH Left/Right & SURR BACK Left/Right speakers are connected as normal to the receiver.
I'm not familiar with the Def Techs. If only the subwoofer sections are powered then the above is what I would do.

I hooked it up just like it is explained above, It was a little intimidating at 1ST since this is my 1ST experience with a HT amplifier but it only took me around 2 hours from start to finish including moving speakers around and pulling out and adjusting some of the HT and I started early. I have been playing with the finished setup for around an hour now. I am very impressed again as when I switched from my Denon to my Onkyo with the difference adding more power makes. I am hearing sounds in music and movies that where previously not just barley audible but completely absent. With the XPA 5 I am hearing it again and this time I have a witness that is familiar with the same music and movies as me here to tell me they hear the same differences and it is not just in my head. Just adding the extra power makes a huge difference even in regular TV cable the voices and background sounds are so much clearer and the surround speakers are so much more active with anything I put on. I will be posting pics soon maybe by the end of the day or early tomorrow. Thanks again all my lil Emotiva and Onkyo brothers especially "ZIPPO"

I posted 2 new pics with the Emo set up and running. Due to not enough room on my rack I had to move the front height speakers to front width speakers but I really don't hear a difference. Ill post more pics later when I have a chance to take better ones. Thanks for all the help and support guys!!!

It's going good, Bud. How was your weekend ? I sold my pair of 803D yesterday, saving some money for some XPA-1s, I hope... I'm debating about getting the XPA-1s or just get one XPA-5 use those extra money in my budget for the new processor. My Mazantz av8003 stills sound awesome but I want to see anything better.

I found an old review that stated 1K watts bridged. I believe this is at 4ohms. Don't quote me on that though.

If you are looking to bridge the XPA-2's you are best off going for the XPA-1's. Sometimes there are deals when you buy 2 or you could find a used pair. Either way price would be very close to the XPA-2's.

You can find detailed explanation of bridging in post #2 of https://forum.blu-ray.com/receivers/...mplifiers.html.

I agree, Bro. I just saw the Bridge mode on the XPA-2 and started to curious about it. I'm waiting for Emotiva next big sale event to save some money, every dollar count now day. May be they will come out with some new Amps perhap a 3 channels at 300wpc or one 300w mono block.
