I don't think you can find very many people to doubt Winston's talent. It's his off the field behavior that alarms me.

If Winston stays on the straight and narrow path, he's a lock to become a very good NFL QB. His skills translate much better than Mariota's current college production. Haven't people realized by now the gimmicky offenses run in the PAC-10 rarely produce great NFL QBs? He's not facing NFL-quality defenses every week.

Please. Chip Kelly runs a very similar offense in Phildaelphia as they do in Oregon, and the offense is dynamite. There's no doubt Mariota is the better QB. His decision making, his accuracy, his composure, his athleticism. There are many QBs in the NFL that did not play in pro style college offenses and are succeeding . Let's not act like running a pro style offense in college is a requisite for success in the NFL.

That makes no sense. There's no such thing as an NFL-quality defense in college football. Even among the best college teams in the nation the majority of players will never sniff the NFL, let alone become starters in the NFL. As I've said Winston does have the skill set to become a really good NFL QB, but I've seen absolutely nothing that would lead me to believe the guy can keep his head on straight. He's constantly making poor decisions off the field. You might be able to get away with that nonsense at FSU, but Goodell and th NFL won't put up with it.

Facts are facts. Go through the list of past and future NFL Hall of Fame QBs. Very few come from the PAC-10. Their offensive numbers get inflated in college because most play in warm-weather sites and their conference refs don't seem to allow the grabbing and holding the more physical NCAA conferences allow like the SEC.

The SEC plays in warm weather sites too. And Luck, Elway, Carson Palmer, Aikman, Brunell, Rodgers, Fouts, Bledsoe, Moon are just a few of the good to great NFL QB's to come out of the Pac-10/12. That conference produces plenty of really good QB's.

What about small ball schools? Flacco, Big Ben, and Romo. Plus I wasn't aware Oregon is a warm weather locale.

I agree on small schools. I remember back when UCF was labeled a "small school" when they had Daunte Culpepper tearing it up in the 90's. Heck, some people still call UCF a small school when in reality we have a good sized stadium(around 50k seats) and one of the largest student bodies in the nation. Every time I go back to campus for a game I swear there's a dozen new buildings. The campus is a city in itself.

Out of the 31 NFL HOF QBs, four (13%) are from the Pac-8/10/12: Troy Aikman, John Elway, Dan Fouts, and Warren Moon. And plenty more are on the way.

I don't see Alabama losing at home tomorrow. I'd like to see the Bulldogs win, but these are the games Alabama knows how to win.
