I've read Avengers End Game with be Disny+ Exclusive on Dec 11.

Yet, pre-orders are available on iTunes and Vudu... Guess it will be a timed release to other services and not exclusive for long.

Let's liven this Thread up a little. I wanted to go back and talk about breaking Movies up. If you remember back in this Thread I was doing that with my Movies in various Streaming Providers, I would watch my Movie in segments. I think the popularity of Series has brought about this change. People just don't have the time to sit and watch a long Movie, but if you cut it down in segments then you can watch what you want. Yes I have been watching Series on Amazon and Netflix, and find I'll watch what I want in the time that I have. Now this is very easy to do with Streaming Providers, but for Discs only DVD and some Blu-rays had this option.

For movies that I previously watched, sometimes I like to backup several frames or seconds to watch an effect frame by frame or listen to a sound stem. Real easy to do with disc, impossible to do with streaming.

Well, my wife is looking forward to the Disney Now app. I’m personally wondering if the Marvel Knight stuff will be moving from Netflix to Hulu at some point Seems a few new Marvel series will be on Hulu. I’m debating on if I’m going to give that service another shot. Especially now that I’ve removed the crappy cable box from my tv. Going to return 2 boxes next week. Both crapped out in my MiL’s room. Not sure why since she’s hardwired. Hated talking to the cable tech support. Because I know more about their job than they do

It was fully authorized by QT, so there's no problem. He even mentioned a 3hr 15min Django Unchained extended cut. Whether it's on Netflix or not remains to be seen is another question.

Not sure if anyone has noticed; but I see that Microsoft is going to make an Xbox One model that doesn't have the disc drive. I have to wonder if this is a move to prop up dwindling Blu-ray player sales. Not by Microsoft but the owners of the Blu-ray licensing. I have seen recently some companies have totally exited that marked (such as Oppo) because their products are not selling. Is 4K in general just not selling or is it all physical media? I thought I read somewhere too that DVD still outsells Blu-ray by a pretty wide margin. I'm surprised they have not killed off DVD or 4K in favor of just selling Blu-ray or HD streams/downloads with maybe a limited-time/limited-edition 4K disc.

Yeah, someone mentioned it a few pages back. I don’t see too much there, outside of it being a smart business move on their part(?). As much as I love having an all in one system, it can be a headache dealing with the settings between my console and my tv. So I honestly see gaming headed in the digital format eventually, but I’ll continue to buy a console that has a disc drive as long as I can unless they give me codes for my games in the future. Otherwise I’ll keep my games as long as they play.

It’s just a experiment to see how well it goes. The new Xbox and the PS5 will both have UHD disc media. The ability to play UHD and Blu-ray Discs in future consoles is as good as confirmed.

There is always a problem when you start mucking around with such things.

I admit that I have not tried that with my newer BD players. Was a pain with older BD players with streaming.

The Oppo story is so why are you repeating the drivel here? Tried to buy a Sharp* or Pioneer or Panasonic TV lately? DVD and BD revenue sales are fairly even, unit sales still favors DVD.

*The Sharp TV is available but it is just a license to use the Sharp name.

I do not game but I wonder why:

Sony has confirmed that it will indeed prevent retailers like GameStop from selling digital download codes for PlayStation 4 games starting April 1st, 2019. The news, first circulated late last week via a leaked memo obtained by popular game deals watcher Wario64, means that players who do not want to input credit card information into Sony’s PSN platform will no longer be able to buy digital versions of games from physical brick-and-mortar stores. Sony confirmed that it isn’t just GameStop being cut out of the download code business, but all retailers.

I don't get why you see this as a negative.

1) I am not the sort to go on youtube often and when I do it tends to be tech talk type of videos so I would love to be able to cut out the video when it is not needed because all I care is what they have to say.

2) I like it because I have had this discussion countless times with idiots. Idiots look at disks and say I see plastic and it is evil (which isn`t wrong) and then they look at digital streaming and see nothing and so they portray it as an environmental solution. It is nice to have stuff that backs up that the environmental cost of streaming is actually extremely high and higher then watching the same film on disk.

I can think of three reasons of the top of my head

1) profits: 20$ spent at gamestop isn't the same for Sony as 20$ spent on PSN)

2) info: let's face it we live in a day and age where we are all cattle n milked for information.

3) ease (impulse+): going to the store to buy a digital copy is a lot more work and will be done by someone that decided to get the game. Clicking OK is a lot easier and can be more of an impulse buy. Not only that but many years ago my nephew got my BILs apple ID PW and ended up doing 200$ worth of in app purchases thinking every time (my dad won`t notice that 1$). If you search the web there is a plethora of similar stories.

Using a Sony UBP-X800ES, Vudu and T2, I tried to get the movie to step frame by frame (< or >) and it would not do it. The movement was always 2 or more frames at a time. Using << or >> would play at only one speed. I could not find any method to Go To or Search a specific time code, i.e., 01:39:17. So, my original post stands, impossible to do with streaming.

And to your many post of “proper hardware”, what hardware do you use to get Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision and HDR10 from Amazon Video, Google Play, iTunes, Netflix and Vudu?

To get that Screen Shot of T2, I did it with Vudu Streaming to my Desktop with Windows 10. If you put your mouse on the play slide, you'll see the time stamp and frame. You can also do it on your TV by accessing that play slide with your Remote.

As for accessing those options for Streaming like Dolby Atmos, Vision, your Hardware has to support it. Then you come out with the proper HDMI Cables to your Systems. As you know I don't have an elaborate Sound System, but the people that do never answered your question.
