Alright, let's play nice guys.

Back on topic.

I just ordered some X-Series RCA cables. I wonder if they will come with the multi-colored rings mentioned on the Emotiva Lounge? I forgot to add that to the notes section of my order.

Default Finally! Erc-1!

After a long wait, my ERC-1 is finally here. It arrived about an hour ago... sadly, I now have to endure 8 hours of the box staring at me .

I will at least hook it up during my lunch hour so that I can start playing right away when the work day is over . I dug up some AR RCA cable to use for now, but I'll probably be trying out some x-series Emo cable soon.

5pm.... 5pm.... 5pm... err, that's Pacific Time.

Thanks, Mike. I have no discipline. If I rip that box open too soon it's all over. Then the man at work will be like this .

I have some of those same AR cables laying around and in use in my system. They are pretty decent quality and very soft (as in flexible). They are also I believe directional, so look for those arrows on the outer sleeve.

Right on, Animo. These are the indeed directional ones (though I own a few other sets that are not directional). The quality is definitely pretty good on these, but this specific cable has seen it's day and has developed kinks and what not from being handled over the 8 or 9 years that I've had them. Besides, I need an excuse to try out the x-series cable.

Let me know how the cables work out. I'm thinking of ordering the rca cables and power cords.

Will do, unless Lou beats me to it since it looks he's already placed an order for x-series RCAs. It'll otherwise be at least a couple weeks before I place an order as I have to recover from recent purchases and the anniversary .

My X-Series RCA's shipped out today, so I will hopefully have them by Wednesday. Pics and reviews probably by the weekend. Early next week at the latest.

Ok, first impressions on the ERC-1... silky smooth yet detailed. I'm loving it so far, but I have tons more to listen to. Running it analog first, then I'll see what the 886 can do with it over coax and optical.

I also can't believe how much thing thing weighs! It's built like a tank!

Let's make sure we clarify things here.

Banana plugs are used for speaker connections. The Emotiva amp has the 5-way binding posts which will accept your speaker wires with banana plugs.

Pre-outs are the connections between your pre-amplifier/processor/receiver and an external amplifier. These will never have banana plugs as the end connectors. These need to be RCA cables. There are various cables out on the market, but Monoprice, Blue Jeans Cables, and now Emotiva have some of the lower priced, but great quality cables on the market.

Does this help?

thanks guys, its all clear now

so i can use banana plugs for one end of the connection (into the emo amp) but to use the pre-out on the receiver it has to be an RCA cable connection on the other end

right?

right?
no, your speakers that are connected to the emo amp, from the speaker to the emo amp you will need speaker wires with banana plugs. interconnects between your receiver from it's pre-outs to the amps unbalanced inputs need to be RCA type connections. they are two different cables, are you with me so far?
