It sounds more and more like I will be picking up the first disk and waiting for the inevitable 30th Anniversary remaster.

A 25th anniversary remaster in 2012 sounds better. And I mean a REAL remaster.

There is no subforum for Greece but the general International forum is non-country specific which includes Greece and all the rest.

All they needed to do was take their existing master and re encode with AVC and a higher bitrate, but instead they give us this craptastic 'remaster'.

I seriously doubt that would help that much. They probably simply just needed to do a new scan.

Also, how many times is that one frame going to be posted here? We get it, he looks like wax. There's no need for the same exact frame to continue to be posted.

Vote with your wallet. Do not buy the new disk and give it bad word-of-mouth to whoever you can. Fox wants to make money and they know this is one of their big titles. If you vote with your wallet, they will comply with our wishes in a future release.

You guys are overreacting. I mean I could see if the entire movie looked that way but based on all the pics shown to date, that is not the case. It's ONE scene people. All other complaints were that it looked like a new movie....ummm.... what's wrong with that?

I don't buy old movies because they look old...I buy them because they are good movies.

If you found out it was the directors intent for predator to be in black and white, would you not buy the colored version?

Buy the version that LOOKS BEST TO YOU, not the director. And who cares how it looked in the movies? I'm pretty sure the old disk blows away the pq that was shown in those cheap ass theaters in 1987. Ut oh! Better break out the dvd version for closer to what you saw at the movies!

If PQ means nothing to you, then why are you collecting in this format?

Where did I say that?

And you have it backwards. The new version has a higher bitrate and it showing more detail. Meaning it technically has BETTER PQ. What people don't like is how it got there.

I don't like that they removed all the grain but outside of the early sequence(which looked trash on all versions) the new one looks as good or better in every other shot. Plus all the extras.

Uhhh...no. Just like I would never buy a colorized version of Psycho or Casablanca or Schindler's List or any other movie "intentionally" shot in black and white.

Heavily applied DNR doesn't magically add detail though. Quite the contrary...

No but the 50% bitrate increase and 100% file size increase did.

I'm talking about if it was shot in color but the director rather it be seen in black and white. I'm not talking about Giligan's Island technicolor.

Then why is it that I can spot missing detail in all the screenshots comparisons posted (and not just that one 'famous' shot) while you claim there is more detail?

All that doesn't matter though, because of heavily applied DNR. It's like pouring more water on a already filled 1 liter glass, it would not hold it. Yeah not a great example but you get it.
