Same. I would love to see 2 more hours of this flick. Love the visuals.

So maybe you've finally found out what you were missing with not watching any animated 3D movies! Pfft!-they are not just for kids! Hey, just last night I had a friend come over to watch a movie - he's 68, I'm 52 - and he chose to watch Ledgends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole, because he loves the 3D lenticular poster I have for the movie, and he had not seen the movie yet. The jaw-dropping details and motion-flow with the CGI, Multiple slow-motion scenes, and then add fairly strong 3D on top of that? Simply incredible - an out-of-body experience, lol!

About to pop in Transformers - definitely not the greatest 3D flick, but I've been wanting to rewatch it lately.

Count me in on that extended run time for the Hobbit - I bought my wife the blu-ray extended addition box set for Lord of the Rings, we'll start that marathon at 8 in the morning and it will still be going at 8 at night (consider breaks, food, etc).

Love those films! Betcha there's at least an hour that was cut from the Hobbit.

agree, i don't see why there is this concept that it's only for kids.

i will watch tarantino's reservoir dogs/or a violent japanese movie and then go watch an animation... you don't have to be a kid or only to be in to certain things to enjoy the animated movies.
you just have to be of an open mind to a variety of things.

actually in such a violent/crazy world we live in today i find the cheesy/innocence of these animated movies extremely refreshing and a welcome break from the more "adult" themes that is more common.

in some ways i prefer that, not an every day type thing but those innocent, refreshing experiences i have with the animated movies is something i look forward to and hold close to my heart.

i wouldn't mind a few of them with more adult themes perhaps but i'm fine with most of them staying how they are.
and i wouldn't mind seeing some more non animation movies with these same themes of the animated ones also.

Well, for more adult animation you can always watch some of the TV-MA rated Japanese Anime series... my daughter exposed me to a lot of anime a few years ago when she was in her "tween" years, and now I watch a good bit of mature-themed anime on Netflix that isn't half bad... definitely some interesting story lines, to say the least...

is there any of them in 3d though?
since i've got into 3d i haven't watched any animation without 3d, it would be difficult to go back to normal.. for me animation has to be enjoyed in 3d now, it just fits so well.

No, no 3D, sorry... I was just referring to the more adult-themed animation...

I'm enjoying the 3D of Transformers much more this time around, it's better than I remembered.

Sometimes I think I'm my own worst enemy, my expectations are high going into a first viewing, then I get let down and shelve the disc. Later I come back and watch again remembering that I wasn't all that impressed only to find out I'm more than pleased with the effort.

That happen to anyone else consistently?

fair enough, i don't even consider non 3d animation an option as to why i wasn't even including those options in my mind.

i did watch half an episode of highschool of the dead on netflix when i went on a trial with netflix and it looked pretty good even without 3d.
but it's just weird without 3d now.

it's like going from very high quality headphones and the experience of it back down to the cheap stuff. hah.

i'm more of a fan of animation because of 3d i wasn't that into it before i got into 3d simply because i'm a big fan of real life actors, and the beauty of cinematography with real scenes and such.

happens to me so much!! a big part of tv/movie viewing is yourself, your state of mind and where you're at mentally.
in a sense it's a mirror to your own soul.

then again, i treat movie/tv viewing as almost a religious experience.. which is why i only do it alone which i realize isn't for everyone haha.. alot of people enjoy it in a social context.

but yeah.. some of my all time favorite movies/tv series i hated when i first experienced it.
alot of it just depends on your self.

you could absolutely hate a movie and then a simple change of perspective and can love it.
the movie itself didn't change, the person did.

if one is completely open to it they can find enjoyment/benefit with almost every single viewing experience/exploration.
some stuff is just completely against everything you are and it's hard to find common ground there which i find it's simply best to move on in that scenario.

I tried to watch Hotel Transilvania in 2D and it was so horrible that I stopped it 30 mins into the movie. Sony sucks at engaging and funny stories. May be 3d would have been better, but I will stay away from this crap.

Well, then I guess your only adult-themed option is some good, wholesome 3D Pron - it's in 3D, and it's usually quite animated, lol...

i'd feel way too uncomfortable with that on my huge 50 inch screen, someone could see it in my windows or something haha..
way too embarrassed/ashamed of that stuff to view it proudly on my screen.

i don't view that much of it anyway, mostly a free webcam girl chat thingy on my pc monitor.. where it's just a girl and no guys.
(for ummm research purposes)

Specifically Hotel Transyvania story but very few sony titles are fun. The last one i liked was Open Season in 3D and it was a downhill from there.

Nope, sorry. I thought the 3D was pretty lame. I'm glad I rented it instead of a blind buy. It was not good

the only animation 3d company i'd confidently blind buy from is deamworks.

disney in some instances.

the rest i'd have to rent or read reviews on, etc.

I agree thats a safe bet. But I consider Opean Season as pinnacle in 3D as far as animation genre (ignoring Sammys). Just jaw-dropping depth everywhere and its stunningly beautiful nature rendering. You feel like you went on a vacation after watching the movie.

definitely going to have to check that out as i've recently heard people raving about it.. when i watched the youtube trailer (non 3d) i thought it looked like a dreadful movie haha and never even gave it a second look to ever watch it but initial impressions can be deceiving, next time i head to the video store will see if they have it.

i bought sammy and have it sitting unopened, i can't seem to ever get around to watching it.
but i recently got new headphones and i'm soooo into listening to music right now, for hours each day and haven't watched much 3d movies.

The story is nothing to rave about (but definitely better than later crap sony produced) but you have to see it in 3D and enjoy the nature vistas.
