Timestalker is getting an Australian release from Via Vision, while Babes is getting a French release, Magpie in the Nordics, Oh Canada in Italy (no UK distribution), The End from Decal (MUBI are inconsistent with BDs/theatrical), The Colors Within from GKIDS, The Last Dance in HK

Parthenope’s disc predates its theatrical release by a month!

Here is going 4K in Italy

The German 4K of The Count of Monte Cristo lists English subtitles on Capelight’s website

Warfare is directly distributed by A24 in the UK, so I expect the only physical option will be importing the 4K from their webstore.

Yeah, unless they decided to start porting these films to the UK, like they did for Stop Making Sense. AFAIK, they could theoretically release Warfare, The Zone of Interest and EEAAO over here if they wanted to.

Anyway, Warfare is up for pre-order on their site now (4K and regular Blu-ray options).

I'm just hoping they do another free UK shipping promotion again, as I would definitely order Warfare and maybe one or two others again, as it only took a week for them to arrive (considering upgrading Pi, and maybe Sing Sing but I'll check it out on Amazon Prime before buying).

Bit of a shame some of these films can only be imported, but that's generally only when A24 fail to reach agreements with UK distributors, or they just get picked up by a studio/licensor in the UK who doesn't do much with them (e.g. Sing Sing, You Hurt My Feelings, Problemista). Costs a bit more than it would if it was released in the UK, but sometimes it's worth the extra due to bonus features on the discs (and in the case of Stop Making Sense and Pi, exclusive new restorations of the main feature).

PS: What's going on with A Different Man? I hope that gets picked up by one of these Universal re-distributors (Dazzler, Spirit, Mediumrare etc) soon as I really wanted to see that one, and it got solid reviews. I suppose if it doesn't I'll have to end up considering an import...

There are worse examples, like The Legend of Ochi was removed from the UK release schedule, no idea if EFD will reschedule it for another month, go to VOD/streaming, or linger in limbo for a year like the last eOne titles at their closure (The Last Voyage of the Demeter and Freaky Tales).

Yeah, I noticed that too as I was curious to see that film. Hopefully EFD reschedule it, or at least give it a shot on home video later down the line. Seems a bit of a mess all this A24 business either way.

I think its likely that Legend of Ochi will receive a UK disc as EIV tend to be reliable for physical releases of everything they have, even ones that they have decided to sell to streamers (like The Green Knight and The War With Grandpa)

Hopefully they are just looking for a better weekend to reschedule it though, as it was pretty much guaranteed to fail and struggle for screen space if they had gone ahead with releasing it the same day as three major studio releases and with most cinemas still reserving a lot of space for Minecraft and Sinners

Speaking of A24

Assume Universal will release/license these here in a few months

Fight or Flight getting a German Blu (was Sky Cinema in the UK)

Becoming Led Zeppelin preorders starting to appear (assume Elevation will release it here)

Pyramide release of Holy Cow lists English subtitles

For Dutch and Japanese speakers with no faith in Curzon or Blue Finch

Blue Finch, you say? Let's hope a boutique like Radiance take notice and consider trying to license Cloud from them, as any Kiyoshi Kurosawa is a particular no-brainer at this point, and this has had strong reviews. I really want to see it and it won't be showing anywhere near me, that's for sure.

PS: Also surprised nobody bothered with All You Need Is Death, figured Paul Duane was well respected round these parts and was quite keen to check it out.

Picturehouse Discover doing one off screenings is both lifesaving and also exhausting they don’t think it’s profitable enough (or down to distributors and programming) to deserve more showings outside of a handful of locations, even if the screening is busy.

So much to be frustrated by like Misericordia, Caught by the Tides and An Unfinished Film barely getting a release, Grand Tour going direct to MUBI streaming and The Shrouds and The Day the Earth Blew Up not having distribution.

Was tempted to order the Canadian disc for A Different Man (my dad is in Canada at the moment), but A24 have just announced their own disc for this one so I'll likely end up importing eventually (alongside Warfare, Pi...maybe Sing Sing).

The Shrouds has a July cinema date now through Vertigo. Think same as Crimes of the Future so perhaps that'll end up Second Sight as well

Timestalker & Oh Canada are getting Blu Ray releases in Australia.

A bit strange given Timestalker only had festival screenings and Oh Canada was a major bomb at the box office. Still good to see Transmission going all out.

It would be nice if Second Sight could license The Surfer and Nocebo from Vertigo

Despite on-line retailers (Amazon France, FNAC) stating that the French release has English subtitles I can confirm that it does not.

There is no menu option for English subtitles and nor can any English subtitles be found when using the remote control option.

Furthermore the back of the cover does not indicate English subtitles.

So the only English friendly release so far remains the upcoming US DVD release from Kino.

I highly doubt Holy Cow will get a Blu Ray release Australia - it may get a DVD release and the UK remains ????

Well, that means Kino DVD will be to the go for unless Holy Cow gets a DVD release in Australia (possible) as I really can't see a Blu Ray release (the Australian distributor has only ever released one film on Blu Ray: The Father).

I noticed Conic also have the UK rights to the wonderful Souleymane's Story so UK disc for that either.

Kino have the US rights so hopefully they will come through with a Blu Ray disc.

Palace have the Australian rights and most of their films are DVD releases only.
