Iowa signed Kirk Ferentz to a contract extension through 2020. Ferentz' extension will make him the highest paid coach in the Big 10. Ferentz has done a tremendous job of taking mid-level recruits and walk-ons and turning them into a championship caliber team. I'm sure there will be some controversy over paying Ferentz more, as he was already making $3 million and was the state's highest paid public employee. The U of I has been going through budget cuts and some people are going to say this money should be used to combat those cuts, even though the athletic department is separate from the University budget and the athletic department is completely self-reliant.

I agree - hate USC but they looked good last night.

I remember what your team did to Hawaii in the sugar bowl. I wasn't impressed with the D at all, and the offense looked well above average.

Think OVN was talking about the other USC (South Carolina).

Southern Cal's offense looked great last night but their defense was horrible. That game could have been different if the refs had given Hawaii a touchdown at the end of the first half when video seemed to show the Hawaii player rolling over a defender and never touching the ground before getting in the end zone. USC's defense better get better fast because I don't see them being able to compete with the better Pac-10 teams right now. They are fortunate because they have time to work out the kinks with a fairly easy upcoming schedule with Virginia, Minnesota, and Washington State before a visit from Washington.

UGA beat the puke out of Hawaii in that Sugar Bowl. Sacked Brennan like 6 times, scored 40+ I think. It was a mismatch, but Hawaii was undefeated before the game so they got into a BCS game.

I mean to say I think this stupid taunting overrules a touchdown rule is going to ruin college football so for the time being I will not watch it, hope they scrap it after this year.

I agree that they've gone overboard with the taunting rule, and really hate that a touchdown could get called back for something so pointless. The worst call I remember was last year's Georgia-LSU game when AJ Green got called for taunting late in the game, apparently because he looked at the crowd, giving LSU the ball in good field position to get the winning touchdown. I still love college football though and can't wait for the Boise State-Virginia Tech game.

Forget that, I'm all for Boise. I'd love to see them go to the title game (hopefully against Iowa). Unfortunately even if Boise goes undefeated they won't go to the title game if 2 teams from the Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, or SEC go undefeated. Maybe Boise will have a better chance next year when they have a harder schedule in the Mountain West.

I'd be very surprised if more than one major conference team goes undefeated. There's a good chance none accomplish that.

I think Bama has a shot but they lost a TON of talent, not to mention Dareus being out of the PSU game .

No they won't. No chance they are going undefeated with this schedule. Their offense is back almost entirely but their defense has lost a lot of key players.
